Tim had to go in for emergency surgery this afternoon/ evening. The polyps that he had were pretty good sized, and the doc had to really dig down to get them out by the roots, so to speak. Well, it left a spot too thin in the bowel wall, and when he brought in some firewood it caused pressure and a hole popped through the wall of the bowel. He

Just so very happy his doc was there to take him in to surgery right away--it sounds like he's in good hands there. Stay strong <3 I know it's happening to him but caregivers take on a huge weight at times like this so please remember to take care of yourself and stay hydrated and rested as much as you can *hugs*

These past few days have been ungodly rough on the pair of you. I hope Tim heals up properly and quickly.
One thing that concerns me---I wonder why the doctor didn't tell Tim to take it easy for at least a week AFTER he removed the polyps?
Or did Tim think that bringing in the firewood wouldn't stress him?
I just glad the doctor arrived and treated Tim promptly.

The discharge paper said nothing about activity. He could 'do anything he felt up to' which is pretty damn nebulous.

This is just my opinion, but they should have sent him home with a bottle of stool softeners and orders to rest for at least a week and no "straining" (puts too much pressure on the intestines).
