Had a day of trouble with the car (not the car's fault; dead battery meaning I left *something* on, although I still haven't figured out what. Had to jump it. Then got to Joann's and when I wanted to leave, couldn't get the key to turn in the ignition lock. A call to a mechanic got it sorted- the steering lock was sort of jammed and just needed jiggling when I turned the key. He was very nice about it and didn't laugh or call me a moron. Darn new fangled things on cars!). Did some floor cleaning when I got home. So today I stayed home, half afraid to go driving. Did start the car, though, and it started right up. Tomorrow I ride... probably to pick up mail and go to Walgren's and possibly to the state mental hospital museum if they are open tomorrow. I know how to get there without looking it up!

I'm pleased to find that this time here, the town layout is sinking it. Last time I just couldn't get my mind around it. This was during the same period when I couldn't come up with words at all and writing was agony because of it, and I was forgetting every damn thing. Well, it was the beta blockers. I'm only on half that dose now, and my brain is much better. Hate that I have to be on them at all... I still have trouble recovering words but it's nowhere near as bad as it was. Anyway, this time around, most of it makes sense.

Got a good haul at Joann's; fabric for making some vintage inspired tops and dresses. Totally out of my usual palette- not one of them has black in it! A pink flamingo print, white roses on a variegated magenta-ish background, and varied blue cornflowers on white-that one is a Gertie print, with which I will make a 'patterns by Gertie' sundress. Oh, and solid blue for the contrast on it, and a piece of dark red linen for the contrast on another dress, for which I already have the fabric, a piece of actual vintage fabric that's dark navy with dark red and green flowers. Every thing I got was already marked down, and then I got 20% off of that on the whole purchase. And one piece I got for remnant price because there was only a wee bit left. So a good score. Got it prewashed this morning.

Of course, starting to cut out clothing means measuring oneself. Now, I knew I had no shape. My waist used to be only 3" smaller than my bust and hips. Now? It's worse. I am a sausage that has it's belly poking out. It is not going to be easy to alter the patterns- especially the dresses- to fit this manatee. On that note, I have been exercising. It's depressing to see that one mile on the stationary bike only uses 20 calories. *sigh*
