So how did my day go? I got up early, and yet didn't get to hospice until after noon. I'm not sure where time goes. It was sunny and hot already, although the weather said 30% chance of rain. I left the car windows down because there is not shade in the parking lot. Go inside and go to work. Only an hour later, it starts raining. I figure I've got a couple of minutes, so i finished the entry I was making and got my keys as I remembered I had library books on the seat of the car.
Get to the door and it's not just raining, the fucking sky has opened. It's coming down in huge drops, like being hit with hail (it wasn't hail). It's thundering. There are rivers of water running through the parking lot. People are running for cover. I decide I MUST get to my car, and dash out. The water is actually over the tops of my feet- my feet clad in my nice red suede flats that I love dearly and were still in a near pristine state. Of course I'm parked three aisles from the door. I make it to the car and throw myself in. The driver's seat is already soaked. No matter; my whole body is already soaked. Thankfully, I'd put a piece of closed cell foam I use for kneeling on when gardening over the books. I run all the windows up. I sit, hoping the rain will let up. It doesn't, but Tim had put a Seahawks umbrella in the car some time back. I suppose it helped some on the way back; I was too wet to notice.
Luckily I had a thin sweater in my tote back. My blazer was soaked, so I draped it over a chair and put the sweater on. But my shirt was wet. My legs and ass were wet. As soon as I sat down, the seat of the chair was soaked. It's ALWAYS too cold in the office for me (and for many others), so I damn near start shivering. I finish up the urgent stuff and bail. I turn the heater on broil and at least my hair is almost dry by the time I get home. Take the foam off the library books, and discover that the rain had run *under* the books, and the bottom one was half soaked. Why did I bother.
It's in the 80s and it's been pouring rain and even when not doing that, it's humid as hell. Make up your mind, Mother Nature.
