Today's epiphany

Something about the re-done TARDIS sound effects in the Doctor Who movie always rubbed me the wrong way...

... Finally realised today that it is 'caus they've mixed in the same sound that is used for restoration spells in Morrowind.

This isn't the first time I've heard what I originally thought of as "morrowind" sound effects elsewhere (particularly the characteristic crunch used in game to indicate a physical hit), but this is the first time I've heard it in an equally beloved series. It just seems so very odd to have Morrowind and Doctor Who in my head at once.

But the TARDIS sounding like someone's just cast a restoration spell? It's like talking to a petite female friend, only to have them mouth a reply with a rich barretone.

Huh.

...

And this is what happens when I take it easy for Christmas by doing repetitive spreadsheet work with Doctor Who playing in a little window to the side.

...

In other news, I finally got the Cintiq working (after much ordering in cable faffery), caught up on my hideously overdue scientific illustration comissions, and drew something for myself. Then had to stop due to the ol' RSI pangs in the right shoulder (my fault for getting so behind in scientific illustration work so having to pull a 12-hour-er to catch up). Still have metric buttloads of ideas to draw when my limbs start cooperating again!

Great Night by ~muffin-wrangler on deviantARTFinally, I'm rather enjoying Pokemon Diamond. In the 'core' team I intend to keep, I currently have Umpire the Grotle, and Kazza the Kadabra (hope to re-name it when I can). To make things more meta, in my head, I'm imagining that it's actually Vanny (my Leavanny) playing the game and acting as their trainer. Because a Pokemon playing Pokemon makes PERFECT SENSE.
