Not knowing more about the story, (I tried to find out about it, but came up empty), I can't really speculate as to what drove him too it. In absentia, all I can say is that, yes, we are all capable of the greatest villainly as well as the most noble acts of heroism. To have that capacity is what it means to be human. Given the right set of cirumstances, the "switch" can be flipped in either direction. It is different for all of us, because we are all different and different things are more or less important to us. Too many people believe that they are "good people" and thus not capable of such things; when they snap it is usually far worse. Regardless, it is not an overnight transition, but most people don't let those around them see what's really going on inside their heads. Instead they wear masks and show people only what they want them to see, playing out the roles they are expected to play.

As far as what we can endure before the mask finally falls and we reveal everything, quite a lot, esspecially if the people around us don't take the time to figure out what's really going on. To a certain extent the masks are necessary, but it's not good if no one gets to see who you really are on the inside. Most people don't have an outlet for the darkest parts of themselves and so they try to deny that it even exists at all. I'm thankfull that I have the ability to explore that part of myself through my writing and other ways. It's allowed me to only wade into the deep end, instead of diving into in completely.

Hopefully, you don't lose too much more sleep over this, old friend.

See you tomorrow at Star Wars.
