Author's Note : Written for lhune as a gift for Christmas, I know I'm late. *shoots* Her request was : Arthur sees Merlin twirling (aka dancing) in an empty grand hall.
"Merlin!"
He shakes his head when he looks inside his own rooms. Where the hell is that guy?
"Merlin! Where the hell...!! Get your ass over here!"
Rolling his eyes, he storms out of his rooms. Descending the stairs until he reaches Gaius' rooms. His fist hammering on the wooden door. Not caring that he's making a hell of a lot of noise.
"Sire?"
Gaius' voice is surprised. And so is the look on his face. And eventhough it shouldn't surprise Arthur, he is still taken aback by the look of concern that suddenly replaces the surprise. Some clear questions in the old man's eyes.
Merlin, is he alright? and Merlin, what has he done this time?
"Is he here? Is he hiding somewhere in here?"
He knows the answer already. Of course he knows. The words are only to hide his own concern at seeing Gaius' face like that. They are only to keep on the pretend that Merlin is after all, just a servant and he shouldn't care so fucking much about just a servant. They are only to keep his image up.
"No Sire. I haven't seen him since he left after breakfast this morning."
"Alright. Thanks Gaius."
He turns on his heels and walks away. When he's halfway throught the hallway he slows down though, shouting over his shoulder, "And if you do see him before I find him, tell him I need him. To clean my rooms."
Arthur doesn't look back. Doesn't want to see whether or not Gaius noticed the small hesitation between the sentences. The cleaning up of the room only an excuse anyway.

"Merlin, where the hell are you hiding?"
He's only whispering to himself, not wanting to risk the chance that anyone overhears him. Not that anyone is near, but, it's just to be safe. Sometimes, the castle walls do have ears...
A soft growl escapes him. He hates this feeling of fear. Not that anything could have happened, though with Merlin one never knows...
"Arthur."
Leon's voice behind him makes him turn around.
"Gaius told me you were looking for Merlin..."
The knight is silent for a second and Arthur does only reply with a nod of his head.
"And seeing your face, you still haven't found him."
There is an annoyed look on the Crown Prince's face. It makes the corners of Lean's lips curve upwards just a little, before he gets his face back under control. It wouldn't be good to get Arthur against him now.
"You might want to take a look in that empty room close to your chambers."
For a second Athur narrows his eyes. Before he allows a small smile on his lips. He'll never show it, but he is grateful for how well his knights know him. Certainly Leon.
"Thanks Leon."
The knight answers the smile with one of his own and nods his head.
"You're welcome."
Quickly he turns around and walks towards his room. No, towards the empty room near his room. He shakes his head softly. He should have known... He should have come to look into that room even before turning up at Gaius' place.
Silently Arthur opens the door. Peeking inside, trying to make no noise. For a second he is surprised to see the fire burning in the room, after all, the hearth hasn't been used for ages, and there is no wood ready to lit the fire. Before he realizes that, of course, he's talking about Merlin.
It takes him a while before he actually notices Merlin in the room at all. He standing before the window and vaguely Arthur can see snowflakes falling down. But what catches his eyes the most is the fact that Merlin is twirling. Twirling as in dancing...
He conciders calling out to the black haired boy. But he quickly chances his mind, contenting himself to just stay in the doorway, watching Merlin dance before the window and through the room.
Of course it doesn't take long before Merlin notices Arthur. He always notices the crown prince. Even when Arthur tries his hardest not to be found.
There is a faint blush on his servant's face when their eyes lock. No, not servant.
"Arthur."
The name leaves Merlin's lips. A soft, gentle whisper. It is enough to make the prince shiver slightly.
His eyes widen a little when he sees the way Merlin moves closer. Swaying his hips to a rhythm heard only by himself. The smile on the young warlock's face. It makes Arthur wary.
It doesn't take long before Merlin stands right in front of him, smiling and his eyes have just that little touch of gold in their deep blue dephts. It takes Arthur's breath away.
"How long have you been searching for me?"
Arthur narrows his eyes for a second and it is all the answer Merlin needs.
"Honest Arthur, you know I love this room..."
A soft scowl. Before the prince reaches out, holding Merlin's face between his hand, and leans closer. Crushing their lips together. Making Merlin moan and arch his back, resulting in his getting closer to near full body contact. Long, lean fingers taking an iron grip on Arthur's shirt.
They only break apart when they hear a guard yell something to a servant in the hallway.
Panting, Merlin burries his face in Arthur's shoulder. While the prince wraps both his arms around the young warlock's waist.
"You know you only have to say my name for me to hear you and stand by your side as soon as possible."
A soft snort leave's Arthur's lips.
"I called your name about 10 times. If not more."
He can feel Merlin shake his head against his shoulder and intinctively he tightens his grip, not wanting him to break free out of the embrace.
"I know."
His voice soft, and he can feel the dark-haired boy relax in his arms.
"I know."
Because somewhere, and neither of them can explain it, there is a bond that connects them. And when they really need each other, there is no way they can't hear one other when they even but whisper the other's name.
The End
