#6: SEVERE Annoyance...

Nov 06, 2008 21:35

This is why I don't mix politics with friends.
Narcosleepygirl: Don't assume this is directed JUST at you. Notice I'm not naming anyone, infact, notice how I'm talking about the WHOLE, the bigger picture, en masse.
Unless there would be a good reason to, I don't specify ONE person. And then it's usually only for a line. Unless stated before hand.

SO NOW.. on to the Masses!!!

Many of my friends are weepy-eyed, sappy soft hearted Idealists who believe that everything can be so easily concieved as the half-cooked conspiracy theories found on unproven websites. Like whatever pops up first on Google.

Me? I'm a fucking Realist. I know from personal experience, more so than my average, hyper-intelligent friends (because all of my friends are smart, some just more so than others. and few as much as me) how difficult it is to actually make real these half-cocked conspiracy theories.
I've got the physical and spiritual scars to keep me rooted in the reality of it all.

A lot of the propaganda they follow is just that: Propaganda. Data and Fact twisted and misrepresented, taken completely out of context, and without reliable source, to baffle the mind of the hungry idealist that is seeking retribution in a shitty unjust world where things break easily, people stab each other in the back, and there ARE ulterior motivations.
Just not the dark, back-alley, seedy ulterior motives that the liberal OR conservative media would have you believe.

As a LFP police Detective once said to me: I'm sure you're both telling me the truth, and it's my job to figure out what is really fact, and what is perception.

This is where being an individual is key: Make up your own mind. Just because someone, on tv or otherwise, talks 'pretty' and shines in a new way, does not make them right, or even truthful. They, like everyone, are fullfilling their own hidden agendas.
Find professional, reliable sources of information... and not just online... do it the old fashioned way: read a book. go to the library..
Do NOT blindly follow the masses.

Make your own conclusions based on hard fact and unrefutable data. Not just what the magic box tells you.

Do not encourage these liberal or conservative medias to make up the mind of the people.
There used to be a day when media was unbiased. It was to inform people of the fact. not to make them choke on private political agendas.
There used to be a day when newspapers and even CNN reported just the factual news. Raw data, and let people make their own decisions.
I know at least a couple of my friends are writers, and at least one who's a journalist... I hope they keep these things in mind when they write. when they spread information, and when they get older and go further into these fields.

Because somewhere in the middle of it all is the Fact. I'm going to keep looking for it without influence from an outside agenda.

Would you follow, or beat your own path?
