(no subject)
Well, it's been a while (almost a year)... There goes my promise to try and write here more often...
Guess what? I almost died yesterday! Twice! But I'm not sure if the second one counts 'cause it might not have killed me, just really hurt...
Here's what happened: I was going to main campus (my college campus is divided into upper and lower, with the lower one having the majority of the buildings so that's the main part) to meet up with some friends, and to get there we have to cross two main streets. The area I chose to cross doesn't have a crosswalk light so you just go whenever there's no traffic, but it has four lanes so it can be kinda hard to time it so there's no one coming either way. I was waiting on one side and there was a guy waiting on the other side. His side was clear but my side had traffic. The car in the second lane (the one closest to the yellow line in the middle) on my side, stopped to let us cross. I wave to the driver and start to cross as the other guy starts across also. Suddenly, there's a car in the lane closest to me! I had to jump backwards to avoid getting hit! The other guy finally made his way over to me and made sure I was okay. I am, but I totally didn't see that car coming! You think he'd notice that the other lanes have stopped and people are walking... He didn't even slow down!
My reaction was to burst into laughter. Not sure if that's normal, but I can honestly say I didn't see my life flash before my eyes.
The other time happened about ten minutes later. It's been super windy lately, almost to the point that it's blowing me over. My friends and I had gone into one of the buildings to get some money from the ATM and as we're leaving the metal door starts to slam shut. I'm about half-way out so if I hadn't caught the door, it would have slammed me into the door frame! It took both hands to stop it from continuing to close, that's how strong the wind was! Don't know if that would have killed me, but I know it would have hurt...
I think I'll be extra careful for a little while, just in case...
