the power of music is astounding
and its not just like, the power of something like Ska to just make you happy.
i think music pushes a lot more than that, if you connect with it deep enough. God has really blessed me with an acute sense of music, and blessed with some great talent, i think.
but, onto the big philosophical speil goes, because its amazing. With me anyways. People thinks lyrics are the only way to reach someone's heart and to give a message, when i think it is so much more than that.
i dunno, perhaps i am strange, but how a true musician, can take a simple melody line, and weave in other polyrhythms from other instruments, to a 15 piece orchestra, really sends me reeling.
the simple vocal line, beautiful in its own right, yet, its coupled with so many different elements. not only from what the drums and bass and guitar give it, but how it comes together. music is truly an art.
like a painter takes a theme, and weaves in other thoughts and ideas into it. Be it different colors, or different textures, different brush strokes, is exactly how musicians see music.
not just a simple three chord progression, not even the spacey modal structures like Aeolian and Phrygian scales, but just how the different elements offer their own shade of color. Some people can see key changes like different colors, the different rhythms and patterns in beat from all the instruments just a different brush stroke on the canvas that is the entire soundwave.
