An immoral offer
The next morning Arin's reserves of strength were all but full again. Bored he watched the activities of the marketplace. He knew he'd only be sold to Siran, and that man wouldn't come and get him directly. He'd rather let him stew in his own juice for a little longer. The strange half-breed in the cage across him watched the hustle and bustle bored as well. A group of young priests was now coming to them and leered at the women in the cage. Arin got up and walked over to them, putting all the experience and condescension of 1250 years of living into his words.
"Don't you dare touch those women", he said, making the leader turn and look at him.
"Who are you that you dare tell me what to do?" he asked coldly.

Arin's eyes showed disdain and his voice, too, was patronizing. "My name is Arin. And those women are virgins. I wouldn't think that the high-priestess of Elarne or the high-priest of Enyer would be happy about your behavior."
"And how should they know about it?" the leader asked. Arin just smirked and held out his hand. A little above it, a bubble appeared, showing their conversation from only moments before.
"What...what's that?" the young priest asked in confusion, making Arin chuckle.
"Do you want to tell me you don't even know the Elf...or rather Alb-light? You surely are awful priests. If you dare touch any of these virgins I'll send an Elf-light containing our little talk to the high-priests. So get lost"
The gazes he grazed the priests with made them disappear quickly. The women inside the cage sent him grateful looks but Arin didn't care. He was only interested in the half-breed across from them.
So lost was he, that he didn't even notice Siran, who had finally come, and looked curiously into the cage.
"Tell me. What's so interesting?" he asked casually, sounding disinterested. Arin was so lost in thoughts that he didn't even notice who he was talking to.
"The half-breed over there. I'd love to know who he is."
"Really?"
"Yeah. I have never seen someone like him"
"That's interesting. Well, Arin. I'll come and get you tomorrow, and if you're good I'll get him, too."
Arin now turned and saw who he'd been talking to. His until now soft green eyes turned hard and icy-blue. But Siran merely grinned and turned away.
"It all depends on your behavior, love. Only on your behavior", he said.
Arin just kept quiet. He could have slapped himself for telling Siran what he liked so openly. But now he would have to simply take the consequences. If he didn’t obey the other would suffer, and Arin didn't want that.
In the evening an Elf-light suddenly appeared in front of Arin that revealed to him the young man from across the market. Arin sat up and shifted so the merchants wouldn't see him. Then the half-breed spoke up.
"Hello. My name is Jian. And who are you?"
Arin just grinned.
"My name's Arin. And today Siran dropped by and made me an offer", he said, obviously intriguing the other.
"An offer? Why are you telling me about it?"
"Because it also concerns you. He'll buy me. Or well, I'm already his. But he found out that you intrigue me. He told me he'd come and get me tomorrow. If I am pliant he'll get you, too. If not, I am sure he'll make your live a living hell"
The other had waited in silence and was now thinking for a while.
"Will you take him up on the offer?" he asked softly.
"I wanted to know from you first. After all you're the only one in this who still gets to choose"
"If that's true, than accept it", the other said. Arin nodded.
"Good night. See you tomorrow", he merely replied. Then he lay down and watched the stars again, filling his reservoirs the last bit.
