After that encounter Kai only went to say good bye to his band mates before he made his way home.

Once he got home he found his answering machine blinking and with a sigh he stopped to listen to the message.
You have one new message.
Today, 13.25
'Hello Yutaka-kun.
This is Mimiko. I wanted to call to tell you I got your letter. And I'd love to meet you again. How about we go for coffee tomorrow? I stop working at 3 pm tomorrow. I can pick you up then, if you want.
I will not be home today, so just leave me a message, okay?
Good bye
Mimiko'

Smiling Kai listened to the news. And even though his head already started to hurt he went to fetch his calender, quickly calling her back, telling her he'd love to go out tomorrow and that he'd wait for her.
Then he went to bed, taking to painkillers while setting his alarm for 12 the next day.

He slept deep that night, but in the morning he was tortured by nightmares, so at 10 am he was already up again. He took a long shower and then a pill to ban the stuffed feeling from his head.

When three pm came around he got more and more nervous, recalling the facts he knew about Mimiko while trying to figure out how their relationship was.
At 3.30 his doorbell rang and he quickly moved across the room, opening the door and sheepishly smiling at the beautiful woman in front of him.
"Mimiko-san, I assume?", he said, smiling brightly when she nodded. He was a little confused though, when he heard a child's voice next.
"Kai-jii-san", came a squealing voice before a girl jumped into his arms to hug him tightly around the waist.
Kai couldn't help but stumble back a few steps before finding his footing again and looking down again.
"I'm sorry, Yutaka-kun", Mimiko said. "But Aiko insisted to tag along. She wanted to make sure you're feeling better after you were sick for so long"
Kai's smile widened at that before he leaned down to hug the girl.
"Thank you, Aiko-chan", he said, loving the bright smile this earned him as she held onto him.
"So are we going out or do you want to come inside?", the drummer asked, looking up to Mimiko from where he was kneeling on the ground and smiling at the girl.
"I think we should get going", Mimiko said sternly, even though the girl was trying to move past Kai already to finally examine the flat. But Kai held her close, standing up and locking the door before turning to the dark-haired woman again.
"You lead the way then", he said, smiling warmly as he held the girl's hand and followed Mimiko down the stairs and outside.

On the whole way to the café Aiko was chattering. She told Kai about her school, and how learning Kanji wa difficult but the teachers were nice, but lessons with her mother were best and if he had hated learning, too, and so on
Mimiko seemed to be happy he got to entertain her for a moment, but when they reached the cafe she took pitty on him, sending Aiko off to go find a menu for them and find out what she wanted.
With a sigh the drummer sat down, smiling warmly at her.
"Thank you", he said while reaching for the menu laying on the table.
"You're welcome", she simply replied and looked after the little girl.

"Haha[1], found it~", Aiko said when she returned, proudly holding out a menu to her mother who thanked her and asked if she already knew what she wanted.
And with that Aiko was babbling again, telling her attentively listening mother what she wanted before moving off to talk about her friends again.

Kai listened with a smile, ordering coffee for Mimiko and himself as well as ice-cream for Aiko.
He enjoyed being around them. And also the fact that Mimiko and him obviouly were friends and nothing more. After all she had a daughter and if the ring on her right hand was any indication she was married.

Over the time they spend at the cafe as well as the walk to a close by playground bits of memory were returning. Pictures of their time in middle school and high school, the times they met afterwards, the marriage, the birth of Aiko, etc
When the two were picked up by what seemed to be Mimiko's husband he smiled, greeting him friendly and telling him he was fine when he asked how he was. He was happy to have friends like them and he promised Aiko to come visit soon again before waving good bye and moving back home.

This visit had totally been worth it. Even the headache the next day.
