Thursday morning, I was watching Adam Lambert's new video, "What do you want from me." It is, perhaps the most annoying video I have seen in a while. I, myself, am quite a fan of his (gayness and all.) I don't understand why there is no one in the video! He is singing a song about a relationship, and the video depicts him ranting at an empty space (as if there is a person there). I know that Hollywood is squeamish about gays on TV, and they want to stray far far away from any "true" depiction of gayness, but holy crap! Who cares if he is singing about a dude?! I don't. I'm sure his thousands of fans don't.
I would rather he be singing to a girl (even though well ALL know he's gay), than have him talking to an empty space. It's as if the video was trying be artsy, but it failed, because it was done for the wrong reason. It was done as a form of censorship. It's not art if that's the case. Art shouldn't be afraid to tell the truth. And, if he has to go through his entire career talking to an empty space, so that we don't get "uncomfortable" than that's a waste!
