The White Danube
As Saturday was overcast, I waited til today to return to my little island :) It snowed overnight, so I was able to walk across the Alte Donau (this photo)without [too] much fear of slipping on ice :)If you look carefully in the centre of the photo you can see the word 'Vienna' written in a heart on the ice :)
...Can tell its getting slightly warmer - cracks in the ice [shoe for scale, in true geologist style! :)]
Next photo looks reminds me of home :)
Finally I got my photos of the Danube on the south of the island - they dont really do it justice, but I hope it gives an idea :)
and now the other side of the bridge:
The pillar/peninsular on the next photo shows where I sat and read for a while today :) [and where the guitar player was sitting last time]. First from one direction, towards the hills:
..and now towards the city:
After about half an hours reading I realised I was actually bloody cold, and left :) But it was so calm and quite and pretty... The strange circular marks on the ice show where there were huge sharp thick blocks of ice on friday, which have since melted.
*sigh*..and so soon it will all be gone until winter again...
