I went out with Brian last night. I had previously met him at a party, but, uh, it was a pirate party; he was dressed like a pirate, complete with hat and fake facial hair, and his face was all red from booze, so I actually didn't know at all what he normally looks like.
He is cute, but his style is not at all to my taste. He has an earring, gelled hair, and a soul patch and wore a collared button-down with vertical stripes of burgundy and black--you know the type. He is really into ska, which I find bizarre. But he is very nice, and I had a good time. Later, I thought I had acted or said things kind of annoying at times, but maybe I was just not holding back because I felt comfortable. I hope that is the case.
He got the benefit of the doubt because he is friends with one my good friends, and my friend gives him glowing reviews. Thus, I was able to supress my initial judgment, and we had a nice chat. And, frankly, I think I could use someone who is unlike me. We may go out again.
