To motivate myself to write, I’ve decided to blog about my online dating experiences (if only, for your sake, they could be called adventures). To catch you up, this will be a longer, more boring entry than I envision the rest to be.
Dave is contestant numero uno. He works at Google and is a cultural (as opposed to religious) Jew from New York with wavy 70sish hair and glasses. 22. Tall and skinny like I like; potentially full of himself like I don’t like; and has the voice and manner of speaking of a gay man.
We’ve chatted online a bit, and the first date was last Tuesday. We were supposed to go see Purple Rain with 1000 hipsters in an abandoned pool in a park in my neighborhood, but it was rained out. We got dinner and a couple of beers afterward instead, and it was good. I hugged him at the end, but we did have the awkward to-kiss-or-not-to-kiss moment before that. Hell, we even talked about past relationships on the first date: The kiss of death?
We went out again yesterday. It was not so good. Somehow, the excitement was gone. He said a couple of things I didn’t like, and he reacted strangely to a couple of things I said. On our walk to the subway, a bus came by, which he decided to take, and we were forced into (or he schemed it) a quick goodbye. But he asked if we would hang out this coming weekend, and I said yes.
That night, he ignored my IM and, I’ve just found out, clicked on my online dating profile. He is online now, but not messaging me. I plan one more attempt to contact him.
