A wtf moment, a writer's torment, and a collection of pics

Jan 09, 2008 12:48

An article of mine came back, one that was supposed to be a simple coverage of a client's company Christmas party. Pretty straightforward, right? Not really. The client's comment blew me away. "Can you make it sexier?", she asks. Anak naman ng lokarit. A sexy news article. Grrrr, argh.

And yesterday we were talking about how writers always question if they'll ever be good enough at their craft, but that there is no such thing as an insecure writer, and that writing, though instinctive and visceral, only starts out as a talent and through practice becomes a skill. An evolved writer, then, is skillful? Disciplined, like a martial artist who knows how the air around an opponent trembles, or a painter who has taught himself to see beyond the colors and perceive instead the various scents, flavors and textures of light and shadow?

But never doubtful? Never unsure? Then... wouldn't you never write, if that were the case?

Writing, and the process of becoming a writer, is a cyclical torment.

Speaking of Christmas parties, I have pics of ours, finally! I haven't sorted through them yet, though. But I have a post Christmas mix of pics to share....

First, a pic of one of the men in my life *HARHARHAR*. This is our Euro receptionist, Jason. A real fun guy I'm rather fond of, sharing his glass of Cuervo Rose with me.

Again, Jason and me, a less close-up version of the previous pic.

Of course, I had to share him. Here, Zac and I show Jason a little appreciation. The guy did a drag performance. He's straight, but I looove him in drag. Pics of that soon!

I loved my outfit that night. Got pawed quite a bit by people who thought that there was a film of cloth in the middle of the blouse. There isn't any. What was fun were the girls who actually did a second take. hehehe.

Me and my girls... with Kay's Julz.

T'was the night before Christmas, and the Bunnies were doing some last-minute shopping. This bunny took the time to tell santa just what she wanted underneath the tree. ;)

A Happy New Year pic from me and Fire. We took a lot of tasteful (and tasty) skin shots for scrapping (naughty bunnies are all the rage this year), some of which I will post, and some of which will find their way into scrapbook pages, and some of which will stay under lock and key. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
