I remember a few years back around this time of year it was a dreary raining day just like today as I went into a poetry class I was taking.
The teacher of that class also taught the film classes I had taken and in my opinion was one of the best at what he does in my opinion, probably the best professor I've had classes from.
He walked in, took off his raincoat, looked outside and said, "instead of reading and anazlyzing poetry today I think we will watch a film called Il Postino because everyone can use a little of the Italian countryside when the rain is coming down on a day like this.
I'd never seen the movie before but I was completely drawn in by it, and still consider it to be one of my favorite ones of all time.
I am going to post a few videos of Il Postino from youtube here on this anniversary day, because as has been said, I think we can all use a little of the Italian countryside when the rain is coming down, and seeing this movie again helps to remind me that there is still beauty in the world even on a dreary day like this and it brings a little light to the dark days there have been (literally and figuratively) of late.

P.S. If you haven't seen this movie and have and interest in poetry check it out sometime, I love the soundtrack.
