Halfway though my road trip. I have so many pictures and adventures to talk about already. First of all, we went through IL. Not much to see there that I've not already seen. That first day, we made it to MO. We stayed the night and first thing in the morning, we went to the Black Madonna Shrine.
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v137/darkangel998/Route%2066%20trip/black%20madonna/ then we went to the Merrimac Caverns. That's the cave system in MO that the James gang used as a hide out during and after the Civil War
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v137/darkangel998/Route%2066%20trip/Merramac%20caverns/ We also went to a Repitile house. They had more than snakes and lizards though. They had two tigers and a lot of birds, and a fox and a lion. I was given some hair from the lion's mane. Ironically, the lion's name...Leo
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v137/darkangel998/Route%2066%20trip/Reptile%20house/ that was really it on day two. We stayed in Joplin, MO that evening, and had a litle fire scare at 4 in the AM. It would seem in a room down stairs, some guy fell asleep while smoking a cigerette.
Day three say the end of Mo, and the start of OK.
We went to the worlds largest McDonalds. It goes across the highway.
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v137/darkangel998/Route%2066%20trip/worlds%20biggest%20McDonalds/ We went and saw a big whale that used to be used as a swimming hole
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v137/darkangel998/Route%2066%20trip/whale/ We also saw the worlds largest totum pole.
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v137/darkangel998/Route%2066%20trip/totem%20poles/ We stayed just ouside of Oklahoma city that evening.
day four saw us leaving OK and heading into TX
here, we saw a "bug ranch" with Volkswagons planted nose down in the dirt
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v137/darkangel998/Route%2066%20trip/Bug%20Ranch/ we saw the western hemisphere's second largest cross
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v137/darkangel998/Route%2066%20trip/biggest%20cross/ there was a Route 66 museum
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v137/darkangel998/Route%2066%20trip/66%20museum/ We tried to find the Blarney stone that is in Shamrock. They hid it really well. We couldn't find it, so we left. Too bad too. We passed it by three times becuase we didn't know what we were acutally lookign for.
and now we are here and halfway through. We're staying just outside of Amarillo TX
tomorrow starts a whole new advanture
