Life has been busy. Not the sort of busy that slams you against the wall, stresses you out and makes your head spin. The sort of busy filled with silliness and good friends, many half finished craft projects, new undertakings, hikes, splashing in the ocean, nights cuddled up with a book, warm sun and day trips to artisan towns.
Oh, and surprised ducks.
Keeping busy, without the feelings of obligation that were making me so grumpy, is a small step to reclaiming my free time in order to alleviate some of my overwhelming stress. Recently I've become a master at flipping the 'Work Switch' in my brain off as soon as I hit the door at 5pm. Not sure when that happened exactly, as I've been completely terrible at doing so in the past, but the ability to dump work stress and forget about the day entirely at the door, is goddess sent.
While I've been getting out more, I haven't done much exploring as of late. I'm running low on locations and haven't the faintest idea where to start looking again. Budd Lake is a barren wasteland for urban exploration. While waiting to stumble upon some new run down place (as is frequently how I find them) I've taken up letterboxing. Sunday's attempt was a complete bust as we didn't find the box despite scouring the area (even the dangerous sections) for nearly 45 minutes. We did manage to get a good 4 hour hike out of it.
We went to see some fireworks in celebration of Independence Day at the local college. It wasn't the best fireworks display I've seen, and no, I have never been to the Macy's fireworks display. Next year I think I'll go back to my usual fireworks watching off the side of a backroad in Sussex.
