I somehow managed to convince myself that my upstairs neighbor (not the 36 year old russian club kid.. his neighbor) is an axe murderer. He's a suspicious character as is and a few weeks ago he was coming home as I was leaving for work at 8 in the morning. Nothing too odd there, maybe he was out all night partying. Except he had this look of paranoia on his face and was fidgeting to get a sweat shirt around his waist as he got out of his vehicle. Again, my rationale stepped in and said "no big deal. He probably pissed himself after all the partying he did." (I live downstairs from a club "kid" who likes to ask if I want to go out and get fucked up.. cut my rationale some slack)
Rationale went right out the window when I noticed that his shirt was covered in what looked like drying blood. Yup, he's an axe murderer. He looked right at me as I was staring in abject horror at him. Great, I'm going to get my ass shanked now. When I told Joe about it he told me to quit being crazy; he works in construction and it was probably paint. Great! The axe wielding maniac has my husband on his side. Maybe they'll fashion matching shivs to get me with while I sleep.
Sleep doesn't come easily when you have an axe murderer (or shiv murderer, I suppose) living above you. So I've been spending time working on crafty endeavors and reading late into the night. It feels pretty good to be working on so many things at once again. I finished up 5 items for a 2 item swap package, made 12 cards, started 2 postcards, made two journal pages, started altering a board book, finished 34 of 50 inchies and made two button bouquets to stuff into the antique jars I keep in the window. It seems that my motivation is returning with Spring. This pleases me greatly. Tonight's task, although not crafty, is to scrub the kitchen (see? damn kitchen!), clean the living room and *maybe* straighten the office. Then settling into a puddle on the couch to work on some more paper craftyness.
Joe comes home tomorrow. Hopefully for good this time. He was home last weekend for a whole 30 hours between Friday night and Sunday morning before he got sent back down south for another week of training the new employees. He likes the town he's been staying in which is nice. Unfortunately, it's in South Carolina and he's tossing around the idea of moving there. After barely making it through 8 months in Virginia intact, I highly doubt I could survive a permanent move to the god fearing south. Everything closes ridiculously early. True, I'm getting tired of the consistent "hurry!" everyone in New Jersey seems to be in. Despite that though, I don't think I could take the ultra shift to the "We'll get to it eventually" mentality people in the south seem to have.
North West, Mid West, (further) North East all seem like good options to me. Unfortunately, any move is dependant on the ability to garner gainful employment.
I'm planning on exploring one of three locations this weekend. I'm currently debating which one on the basis of weather and distance from home. I bet my neighbor will be disappointed if a hobo gets to shankin' me before he can.
