A new weekly installment, where I get to write about all the things that made this week awesome. I saw this on a couple of blogs around the interwebs and think it's a great idea. Especially if I'm having a crummy week.
Fancy Holiday Parties: Not only is there a ridiculous amount of free food and booze, but I get to watch normally stuck up corporate slaves cut loose on the dance floor! Also, I have a sickness and consider dressing up every so often to be a lot of fun. If donning a polka dotted cocktail dress wasn't incentive enough for me, they sweetened the deal (literally) by having an entire ballroom in the place dedicated to dessert! Can we say sugar induced coma?
Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga: What could be better than a video game that combines two of my favourite things? Nothing, really. I've spent so much time this week sitting on the couch with Joe playing this and it's been totally awesome. I'm a total completion junkie so we've been replaying levels a few times. Must.. have... all.. Legos! Also, throwing Jar Jar Binks off building tops and balconies is endlessly entertaining, as is wiping each other out accidentally (riight).
Geekologie.com: This site is amazing. I have spent good chunks of my workday perusing the archives and
laughing my ass off,
staring in aghast horror, or
wiping dribble from my chin. I'm fully addicted to the site, checking in multiple times throughout the workday to see what's new.
Yarn: Yea, it doesn't get much more nerdy than admitting that yarn has played a starring role in your week, but seriously, it has. I've spent a good deal of time looking at it, coveting new yarn, and turning old yarn into gifts so I can go out and buy the yarn I've been coveting without feeling like a guilty pack rat. I've also been reading a book all about yarn and am now totally interested in going out and purchasing yarn made from less popular fibers, like bamboo and soy. SOY YARN! I have no idea what I'd even make from it. I certainly don't need anymore hats/scarves since I have those in spades. Luckily for me, having a yarn stockpile has saved me loads of money on supplies to make holiday gifts. Maybe I don't need to feel bad buying that new yarn afterall...
Leftovers: This week I haven't cooked a single meal. I shit you not. We've been eating nothing but leftovers, because we had so damn many of them! It's an excuse to experiment with combinations and side dishes as well, since all of our leftovers are meat based. For example last night we made Shepherd's Pie... with taco seasoned beef. And it was delicious. Tonight, however, we are out of leftovers. So we'll probably order a pizza and give me one more day of non cooking joy.
