Firstly, I updated my journal layout. It's been ages since I did that. And I'm lazy, and wasn't feeling up to the task of creating a theme for myself at the moment, so luckily I found this super cute one that I thoroughly enjoy.
I'm almost out of time to get stuff together for Joe's birthday this Saturday. I still have to find a round pinata to transform into the DeathStar, or make one from scratch from paper mache.
On a good note, I've aquired pie plates to create some flying saucers, Luke's family has a metric ton of funky lights and white christmas lights to cover things in, Joe's gift of vintage unopened Wickett is pristine, and I also bought him an opened one from the early 80's so he could have one to put on the shelf with our other opened figures.
Also, I bought a Galactic Heroes (those reaaaally cute Star Wars figures..) version of Han Solo and I'm going to freeze him in a big block of ice and throw him in a punch bowl. I was fresh out of carbonite, so ice'll do. Also purchased a micro machines Jabba's palace package. It comes with a 2" tall, 3.5" long Jabba the hut on his pedestal, and an itty bitty little slave Leia (We're talking under an inch) and various other itty bitties off of Ebay for $7. Leia and Jabba will adorn the table next to the punch bowl.
I wanted to try to make an edible pizza the hut from Space Balls out of nachos and cheese, but I don't think I'll have the time to pull it off. SOOOO much to do, and no one to help. makes for a sad Danni.
On top of this, I signed up for a
Craft Swap on
Craftster. Our send date is May 22nd. So I have some time to get things done, but I need to divide my time up wisely. My swap partner is from Australia, likes cutes things, pink, purple, girly skulls, sewing, toys, and Nintendo. Our requirement is to make 1 medium and 3 small items to send. I finished 2 small items yesterday, a needlebook and a cupcake pincushion. I'll post pictures later. I'm going to make her a mario charm bracelet and also a Yoshi Plushie, if I can figure out how to do so. *Fingers Crossed*
Off the topic of Craftyness and Party Planning for a little while,
Friday Joe, Bob, Maggie and I went to see Iron Man.
And it was fan-friggen-tastic! Robert Downey Jr was spot on the perfect guy to play Tony Stark. Because he was just playing himself really. :P But seriously, a better comic book movie I have not seen since Spiderman. (2 was ok, and 3 can go suck a nut... friggen Emo Spiderman... give me a break. Go fingerbang through someone else's city Peter Parker!) I can only hope teh HUlk lives up to being as bad ass as it looks. I love Ed Norton, and when I went to NY Comic Con and watched the Hulk panel (as well as Hellboy 2 panel.. SO PSYCHED!) they were talking it up, and made sure everyone knew it would be nothing at all like the last one. There's an actual villian. And an actual Hulk. Not an oversized green Eric Bana.
If you go see it, STAY THROUGH THE CREDITS!
Yesterday afternoon we went to the Bamboozle fest at Giant's Stadium. I learned something. Bamboozle caters to the younger show going crowd. And that younger show going crowd is a bunch of douchebags. We went to see the Academy is set (I like them.. they're catchy!) and the Motion City Soundtrack, and there were kids launching themselves from the back into our backs, and people were SERIOUSLY throwing fists and kicking people and trying to slam dance like it was a hardcore show... in the middle of a crowd of people who were just there to see some incredibly mellow bands. Every kid that jumped onto my back got an elbow in the head/ribs/boob because I can be a dick right back. I needed to leave the pit area because I was so irate over the lack of reasoning and simple concert ettiquette these douchebags had. If you want to throw fists great, if you're at a show where that's appropriate.
Luckily those same kids, had never heard of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, the band I was there to see. And that was a great set. I forgot how much I like ska shows. Everyone was just dancing (skanking.. haha! Someone actually held their belt buckle while they did it!!) and having an excellent time. We also caught the Bouncing Souls, Anti Flag and the Street Dogs. All excellent bands that kids don't listen too. :P
Maybe I'm getting old, but I thought it was understood that there's a time and a place for douchebaggery and bloody noses. A ska/punk show would not really be it. MAYBE Anti Flag... but definately not the others.
