Gorgeous start. I have extreme love for your Tonks. She's so very layered. And you managed to 1) reference mythology appropriately with your title (which is totally win and so friggin rare) and 2) play to my very favourite plot device of having characters with multi-faceted morals do the wrong things for the right reasons or the right things for the wrong reasons. I just love this to pieces already. Your imagery is lovely, too. It's quite visual without overwhelming what's going on, which is always a delicate balance. Also, kudos for maintaining the feel of Tonks and Sirius' substantial flaws in their relationship as you developed in the first piece.
Dare I hope that you go AU and somehow bring Sirius back? As a rabidly fanon-centric, AU, rare-pair fan, I dare to dream. ;-)
1) Hereditary witch (in a non-HP way) and complete mythology dork. Be prepared for Shakespeare quotes too, I've never managed a chaptered fic without at least one. 2) Well, I like that too--so rarely do the right things happen for the right reasons. It'd be unrealistic. Surprisingly, the imagery wasn't all that hard. I'm finding this fic incredibly easy to write, which is kind of amazing.
Oh, she's bringing him back. that's what her whole argument with herself was about--and hopefully in a way you've not seen before.
...I kinda love you a lot right now. In a totally non-'Misery' fangirl kind of way.
I took mythology in college as well as every Shakespeare course offered at two universities. Have also had a nearly lifelong interest in mythology (*points to screen name*). It's like you're channeling everything I'd like to see in a fic and writing it all.
I figured she'd *try* to bring him back. I didn't really honestly think you'd have her succeed, but dear God am I glad you're going to.
...so rarely do the right things happen for the right reasons. True, but also SO subjective. History being written by the winners and whatnot, morality tends to be retrospectively assigned.
And yes, this is brilliantly original so far. I have no doubt it will continue to be.
Aww, thats sweet. I love your screenname, by the way. yeah, theatre dork. opera may play in too if I find it fits...La Langue Luce from Verdi's Macbeth is going to be the title song for the next chapter.
If you want a teaser as to how, you can AIM me @ DarkAdrenalynn. I like finding out if my ideas are plausible, because, admittedly? Sometimes they aren't.
Thats my point EXACTLy. We're the only society who tries to really feel bad for the losers too, a century afterwards.
Haven't used AIM in ages (am generally on Yahoo!Messenger), but will dig through my computer for it tomorrow (as I recall, my screen name is my maiden name. First name is Janis). I'm online virtually all the time (often writing for the RPG I'm in) so I'm pretty easy to get ahold of. My Yahoo screen name is just isis_uf if you happen to have that as well. I pretty much never turn it off. I generally avoid spoilers of all kinds, but if you need someone to bounce ideas off of, that's different and I'm happy to volunteer for the sake of the fic. ;-)
Not only do we feel bad for the losers ages later, but we also have a way of turning the winners into the "good guys." No one thinks they're bad and since the winners influence culture later... well... Let's just say if Voldemort were to win, the kids at Hogwarts would later be studying in History of Magic about how the Muggleborns tried to dilute magic or take over the wizarding culture or something.
