Cornelius asks to borrow the car, but he doesn't tell John and Anna where they're going. John would never let them go alone, and he doesn't want John along. Melinda was there when it all happened; she's the one he wants with him, and no one else.

He's a little subdued as he takes the keys and waves goodbye to his roommates and benefactors, but they chalk it up to pre-date jitters. He and Mel seem to be starting to get serious, after all.
