As houseguests go, Thorn is quite pleasant. Attempts to hold a conversation with him may be frustrating, but in all other regards he goes above and beyond expectations. Unasked, he does any dishes he finds dirty. Any dripping faucets or other quirks of the household appliances are quietly mended. He may be found cleaning when no one else is about.
Thorn can also make tea, and it is tea which puts anyone else's to shame. He runs the water cold for a moment before filling the kettle, warms the cups with hot water beforehand, and seems to know some other precise tricks. The difference in flavour is one that is unexpected, but rich and miraculous. He does not bake or cook, however, and seems so delighted with Sarah's culinary skills that he seems unlikely to stay underweight for long.
When not cleaning, making repairs, or impacting the grocery bill, Thorn tends to either hide in his room or hang about the back porch. This morning he is there, seated on the bottom step attempting to light a cigarette as he watches the sea.
