Happy Halloween!

Oct 24, 2006 12:50

In The City, Halloween is a holiday mostly for little children, but some adults have gotten into the act. Storefronts are decorated with cutout jack-o-lanterns, and schools are abuzz with fun activities for the students. People are heading to the five-and-dimes to purchase last-minute costume pieces and candy. A few of the jazz bars are offering cheaper admission to costume wearers. There's even a city-sponsored bonfire on the beach for late-night revelers.

There is a ghost story that passes among the adults. A story of the dead walking the earth and an alien that destroys the sun. It sounds like a bad science fiction movie, but it still gives people the shivers.

The beach house is decorated for trick-or-treaters, more silly than spooky. The bushes out front are covered in fake cobwebs. A plastic skeleton hangs on the front door, and a small family of jack-o-lanterns grins madly on the porch. The neighborhood kids have been whispering for days about rumors that THIS house is going to give out the best treats on the block.

((Hey folks! Yes, Halloween is a whole week away, but many of you have RL plans (I know I do!) and other IC obligations during this most awesome of holidays. Come by if you like and have some fun!))
