Hit and Run in Providence this afternoon

This weekend was one of the best weekends ever. Ok, first off, the week of school consisted of Thursday and Friday, and had 1-hour delays (Due to the “massive” snow storm of new England, pussies). Thursday Paul and Josh came over and we filmed our commercial for video productions. We did ours on “spinna-bling” and it came out alright I guess. We had to follow a script so it couldn’t be as good as possible cause we had to stick to lines and whatever we put on the storyboard. I work best on the fly and when ideas pop in my head during filming, a lot of people are like that. It involved josh being a wannabe gangsta and me making fun of him, being a true gangbanger myself. He gets the spinna-bling from Paul who is the utmost gangstafied person this side of the Mason-Dixon. He then sees me the next day and totally shows me up with his new necklace. It’s pretty funny.

Friday a bunch of my friends slept over. Jenks, Dennis, Brad, Tom and Dan all came over and we had all kinds of stuff to do. We played ps2, gamecube, pool, darts, and messed around on guitars. The coolest thing we did was film this stop animation piece. Its about 30 seconds long and took about an hour to film and another 15 minutes to edit. It is awesome. I’m going to make it an avi file and have tom see if he can get it on ebaumsworld.com. That would be pretty sweet. Then people will see it at school and then recognize tom or anyone in it. Its called “Knot in the wall: a pool game for the ages.” If you want to see it and have a cable modem, just im me, and ill send it to you.

After we woke up, we edited the aforementioned video and ate breakfast. We got ready and went to the mall to buy tickets for the concert later that evening. After that, we went to east buffet where brad’s mom was nice enough to treat us to dinner. We left for lupo’s at about 5:45. With traffic and getting semi-lost, we got there at around 6:20. I hate the way providence is set up; didn’t the city planners ever hear of something called a grid? Anyway, we got in and it was cold in there. Tom, Jenks, Dennis and I all bought shirts, the same one in fact. Its cool though, black with tour dates on the back. It will suit me fine.

The first band that came on I wasn’t too thrilled to see. Their name was Mensera or something like that and I heard 3 songs on their website about a week ago. But they were pretty awesome live. Some bands are like that; shitty on cd and amazing live, kind of like Kiss. The next band I was pretty psyched to see, Alabama Thunderpussy. They sucked, but on cd they are pretty awesome. So they are the opposite of the rule. Their guitarist looked exactly like dimebag though. Long brown hair, black baseball hat, big beard, flying v guitar, t-shirt with the arms cut off, and black wristbands. Everything. Oh well, GWAR was up next.

Now, Gwar is a band that you either love them or hate them. A lot of people I know hate them because, well, they don’t take shit seriously and are ridiculous, which are both true. But that’s why I love them. I mean come on, would you take a band with a lead singer that looked like this seriously?

I didn’t think so. He’s got a 2-foot dick for crying out loud. They came on and the crowd went insane. They had some guy in a costume come on making fun of gwar. Then odorous came onstage (the singer) with this gigantic sword; approximately 8 ft long and cut his head off. Blood goes everywhere on the crowd and that’s how it started. They brought out people dressed like different celebrities throughout the show and killed them one by one. The list includes: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Paris Hilton, Michael Jackson, Osama Bin Laden, George W. Bush and The Reaganator (a huge robot Ronald Reagan). The most offensive one had to be Lacy Peterson though. They ripped out her unborn baby’s corpse from her and it started spitting green stuff into the crowd. So offensive, but amusing at the same time. Its just so crazy. They did Sick of You, War Party and Bring Back the Bomb, so it was cool. It was one of the top 3 concerts ive ever been to, and next week im going to see the Dresden dolls again, a far cry from Gwar.

After that, we went into Cumberland farms covered in blood from the concert. People gave us the greatest looks. We got food and went home. We all took showers to get the stains off and played Mario brothers on super nintendo. We put a seinfeld dvd on and fell asleep. My 2nd good sleep at a sleepover in a row. I went home around 11 the next morning. It was one of the best weekends I can remember having. I went into Providence with Lauren today to get film for her portfolio slides. We got a little something to eat at Johnny rockets, where, the entire staff broke out into song and dance to Aretha Franklin’s Respect. I got home, took a nap, talked to Jenn, Dan and Colleen. I'm going over Jimmy’s tomorrow to film something for him for Berkley. Then I don’t know what. If you want to hang out sometime, just let me know. I'm going to bed, later.

This is us after the concert at Tom's house.
