I haven't updated seriously in a while, so I've decided to do that today. Now Bush has signed a legislative act against partial birth abortions. I have not read the exact wording of the ban, and some people have differing opinions on what exactly it says. Some say the language is too broad and may prevent in some cases a normal abortion. Others say that it isn't too broad and is only for a specific type of abortion done late in pregnancy, and most doctors agree that it is never necessary to protect the health of the mother. (Which was my initial argument against it) It is also said that within the medical profession this act is widely (not entirely) regarded as unnecessary and not only cruel to the child but often harmful to the mother.
Anyway, from what I've found so far I am actually for this particular abortion ban, (I would also like to state that I am firmly against a ban on all abortion) for these reasons.
1. It is a kind of abortion done late after the fetus has developed most of what it needs to be alive in the real world and only needs for those things to grow and mature. Thus I feel it is past the point of not being a human anymore.
2. Since this is never necessary to protect a mother's health, (according to the doctors as I have found) if a mother wants an abortion, she should do it early in the pregnancy as to be safe and not have to worry about a late abortion anyway.
3. This procedure is documented to be much more dangerous for the mother than an earlier abortion procedure which does not entail puncturing the skull of the infant in the womb. I would rather mother's use the more safe procedure.
OK now, without jumping down my throat, let me know what you think, AND especially if you have a link or somewhere where I can read the exact wording of the ban itself so as to better inform myself (and I'm not asking for sites created by people either for or against the ban, because those on both sides are almost always highly slanted views with inferrences that are not always accurate) please let me know.
That's my real post.
Also, I'd like to state that I did horribly on my Management 400 test and that I have to have a teacher conference and I feel like I'm back in High School.
