One of my pet peeves is with people taking a term and using it for all sorts of things that the term really doesn't define. Lately that term is "terrorism." Terrorism is an unexpected act of violence meant to destroy any feeling of security one might have and promote a sense of fear. Terrorism is not retaliation for acts of violence, that is revenge.
People calling acts against the Palestinians by the state of Isreal terrorism have no notion what terrorism really is. What is worse is that they will look you in the face with their ignorance like you are stupid and tell you you don't know what you are talking about when you try to correct them. Let me tell you, though, violence doesn't have to be terrorism to be wrong. Trying to label an atrocity terrorism when it's something else doesn't make the attrocity any more evil, it just blurs what the real argument should be.
