Diana Wynne Jones passed away yesterday. She was one of my favourite authors. I am very besaddened. I think I will have to read Fire and Hemlock again, in tribute (my favourite book; my userpic is taken from the cover, although the words are Keats') -

So far, I have already forgotten that I am now 23. Started work in the cardiac unit on Monday (I guess it barely counts since it was an orientation day, but anyway). Lots of new things and new terminology and new equipment and at the same time lots of things I haven't seen for over a year- making beds, meal cards, certain types of paperwork. I have a student card! It makes me feel like an official uni bum. As does attending uni. Learning. But the nice kind of learning where I come home to Alex, not to a houseful of random other students who I kind of but don't really get along with. -

Alex's mum got me the Australian Women's Weekly Bake cookbook, which is both large and full of excellent recipes (I've always had large amounts of faith in the Women's Weekly recipes as they always seem to work out [even the time I made a sponge roll for the first time!], and also I've grown up with them). I had forgotten how expensive uni textbooks are.
Anyway:
This is one of the songs used in our concert this year, for a contemporary ballet piece called 'Forest Creatures'- all the girls are wearing various insect costumes and doing this awesome kind of crawly dance.
