Short episode reactions to:
So, is it just me or is canon basically telling us flat out that Bobbi/Mack/Hunter were a thing? Because the long loving looks at their good bye and Mack talking about how much he missed them and the fact that Mack was the last one to see them and they all looked so teary eyed - I get that they're friends but those writing and acting choices actually make a lot more sense if they were all together, and now poor Mack is alone.
BTW sylvanwitch just wrote me fabulous ot3 fic about Mack/Bobbi/Hunter, both hot and heartbreaking, that absolutely hits the spot if you're having feels for this ot3 right now:
http://sylvanwitch.livejournal.com/591654.html Other random notes:
-I want Mark Dacascos' character to join the good guys.
-Melinda training Jemma would rock. That scene with the gun was good character development for Jemma and understandable. Melinda saying she doesn't want hope was heartbreaking. Basically, I like that Jemma and Melinda are getting scenes together.
-In non-episode related shipping, I have realized I totally ship Fitz/Bucky. Because Fitz is amazing with people who've undergone hard things and/or aren't sure who they are any more (Skye when she discovered her powers, Jemma after getting her back to earth), and because I think Bucky would meet Fitz and just think he's so very much like pre-serum Steve (he makes tons of smartass remarks to people more powerful than he is, is super determined, hates bullies, won't ever back down (such as when he was searching for Jemma)), and I feel like their protective instincts for each other would just start a protectiveness-love feedback loop.
So I finally caught up with the last two eps:
Episode 4.17, "You've Got Me, Who's Got You?," about the people who dress up as comic book heroes was actually a really, really enjoyable ep. I liked the case, the one-off characters, and the main character development. Fave parts include:
Sherlock's favorite comic book ending being the hero going over a waterfall in the embrace of his nemesis.
Marcus' respect for victim's superhero life growing the more they learn about him.
Sherlock's line about how most people with masks being there to kill him, have sex, or both.
Sherlock's line about mass shootings and how it should be on currency, and then him knowing to appeal to the murderer's sense of friendship to get a confession. Just the overall twist of who was guilty and why was pretty well done.
The superhero community all knows about Sherlock!! (So that means that Sherlock is like one of their Irregulars, yes?)
Joan deciding to rock like the badass she is. Specifically by taking control of Morland's mole.
Sherlock ripping open Ben's shirt and then telling him he looks good in the superhero outfit. And then sending Ben books on observation at the end! BTW I now ship Sherlock/Ben Garrett. Yes, I'm that easy. (And we know that giving someone books is Sherlock's way of wooing lol).
As for the more recent ep, the survivalist doctor plot was pretty interesting, but I really enjoyed the romantic plot with Sherlock having to clear up why he was acting so weird, and I usually hate canon romantic plots. I really enjoy Fiona's character too. So I guess Sherlock's type is gorgeous geniuses who don't care deeply about society's norms of human interaction (no offense intended - I'm not trying to make light of real discrimination against NA people, just that Sherlock hates socially acceptable limits on human interaction and his only two loves have been people who don't care if he's socially acceptable in that sense). (I hate to think of what it would be like if "Irene" were to meet Fiona though.)
I figured Mick was still alive. I like this twist that they're keeping him. But if they have a cell to keep him in, why didn't they just do that all along? Or was the cell from Chronos' ship?
Felt bad for Len - threatening Lisa is a big no, and then the hand, and then saving Mick anyway.
Ra's was interesting - it seems like he was less of a jerk as a lot of people noticed - maybe it was true that the Lazarus pit had made him worse and worse as time went on. And I know this wasn't ever the intention, but this actually makes his attitude toward Sara way less douchey -- like he seems to really respect her as a warrior, but he knows she's not really an assassin, as opposed to him being like "ugh that weird girl my daughter likes." Also, Ra's seemed actually intelligent here, what with knowing they're from the future and agreeing to work with the team, unlike on Arrow.
Ray is an idiot thinking he could take Sara. Rip is an idiot thinking he could take Ra's. Kendra rocked.
Yes, Ray, 1960 is a terrific time to be a non-white-male as the past few episodes have overtly discussed.
I am actually shipping Rip/Len. I already ship Len with most people, so might as well. They worked together at the start of the most recent ep immediately, both easily agreeing to send the Firestorm twins to safety and fight Chronos themselves, and then the hand healing scene was quite bantery.
I like how Barry fucks up so badly. And he tells them that Hartley knows about Ronnie! For NO reason, and not by mistake!! After being repeatedly shown that changing history is NOT okay! Glad it all works out - and very glad to see Hartley and the redemption of Hartley is kind of cool actually -- but Barry was lucky that didn't change everything. E2!Wells was very right. I mean I adore Barry, but this was not the ep to suggest he's a smart boy with very good judgment.
Wished we could see Barry and Eddie interact more but it was nice what we saw.
Barry thinking to make that video even among everything else was so sweet.
So... why do time wraiths hate speedsters only? Shouldn't they hate everyone who changes the timeline??? Doesn't that mean they'll go after the folks in Legends of Tomorrow? Srsly, WHY just speedsters???
