Yule Letter 2022
Dear Yule Writer,
It's Yule Time again! Woot!!
I am so excited for another year of wonderful, creative Yuletide tradition. I really appreciate you taking a few moments to read my Yule letter. I hope that you will enjoy writing my request and that this letter will help get your creative juices flowing. The prompts I've included below for each fandom request are only there as a guide. Please feel free to write whatever you feel inspired to write even if your idea is not aligned with the prompts I've supplied. Finally, my "Do Not Want" items are also listed below. Shetland
Ship: Jimmy x Hunter
I just adore the quiet tone of this TV series. Jimmy is my most favourite character. I love him. He's a quiet protector. His relationship with Duncan really stands out to me. These two men are quite different, coming at life from different viewpoints and having quite different personalities. I love how, while being so contrasting in many ways, they have become rather united in raising Cassie. There's none of this soap opera, CW stuff involved with her custody even with Duncan being her birth father and Jimmy her dad. They just try their best.
Anyhow, I've been requesting this show every year for Yule for a while now. I've received a few WONDERFUL fics as a result!! But I'm always keen on more because this show just deserves so much more fic than it has. For a fic, I would be happy with Canon Divergence fic from any point in the series. No matter where you pick up from, I'd really love to see something that focuses mainly on Jimmy and Duncan's relationship. Some soft hurt/comfort fluff is always lovely as long as it isn't too angsty. I always love fics that show them first crossing to romance from their platonic relationship. I also toyed with the idea that maybe a fic from an outside POV, like that of a newcomer to the island or even just a bunch of the islanders themselves, where they wondered what Jimmy and Duncan were to each other.
I know there's quite differing opinions of what their relationship might look like should they move from platonic into something romantic and/or sexual. Personally, I would prefer to see them full-out committed to each other and a lot of intimacy, but I'm not overly interested in the sexual side of things or any 'gay-panic' on Jimmy's side. Not to say that he and Duncan wouldn't have a sexual relationship, I'm just not interested in reading a lot of smut-centric fic.
Please Note: I don't have access to BBC and have to wait until the new season reaches Canadian Netflix. So, I have only seen as far as season 5.

Ship A: Semimaru x Chimaki
Ship B: Semimaru x Arashi
I just LOVE Semimaru Asai.
I'm looking for something Semimaru-centric. It could be something that ships him with Arashi or Chimak. I've really enjoyed seeing him grow as a person through the manga. Semimaru is the kind of character I always fall for; he's an asshole and a bit comedic relief, but he has heart and he's quite smart. I love how he grows as a character and how he really cares for Arashi and Natsu and the rest of their group. I love how he's a jerk but also uses it to distract people from scary situations. I feel like he is quite soft on the inside and actually has a lot of compassion, even if he's a hot head and a bit of a dink.
SO! For the fic... Is Semimaru bouncing around the group looking for someone to get with? Does he and Chimaki decide to start fooling around just to deal with sexual frustration? Does he go to Arashi one night for some physical comfort? Does he start flirting really hard with Arashi to try to get him out of his Hannah funk? Does he decide to try to befriend Ryou because “the guy needs to loosen up’? If he and Chimaki got together, what would that look like? Does this take place within the story or perhaps later in their new little settlement?
I would prefer canon compliant or divergent for fic, but if you have an AU that you really want to write, please go for it. I just want my sweet, sassy, jackass son to have a good day.
Also, as an aside... I've read the manga and watched the netflix show, so I'm good if you've only done one or the other. The show follows the manga pretty closely.

Misfits
Ship: Nathan x Simon
I love Nathan so much. He is my asshole son and I just love him so, so, so much. I honestly tried to continue watching the show once he was gone, but I couldn't without Nathan. Anyhow, if I could get some sort of s1 or s2 canon divergent fic where Nathan and Simon somehow get together, that would be the beeees kneeees! I'd really like something with hijinks and shenanigans.
Perhaps Nathan suddenly realizes he maybe picks on Simon so much because he has a crush on the dude. Maybe Kelly helps him realize this? Idk. Is Nathan completely self-aware about the fact that he is a chaotic pansexual mess? Or is Nathan struggling with the sudden realization that he isn't straight? Either way, when he realizes he has it bad for the quiet, weird little dude, maybe he decides to try to come up with a way to "woo" Simon without committing to it... the whole "I'm into you. Just kidding!! ...unless?" dance of an idiot such as Nathan Young. Or maybe he's totally forthright with it all? Maybe annoyingly open about it!? And how does Simon respond? Is he embarrassed but intrigued? Is Simon interested but scared that it might be another of Nathan's stupid pranks? How does it all go down?
Fake Relationship is one of my most favourite tropes. That could also be a fun direction to go for a Nathan/Simon fic instead. Maybe Nathan gets in hot water in some scenario and says that he and Simon are a couple on a whim and then they end up having to act as a couple for a longer amount of time than anticipated. Simon would probably have some anxiety about that.
Anyhow, whatever you end up doing will probably be fantastic!! The main thing I want to say is that, while I think Nathan is hilarious and the way he teases Simon is super funny at times, I truly am not into them having an abusive relationship. So, softening Nathan might be necessary, because he can get cruel at times.

10 Things I Hate About You
Character: Patrick Verona
I have a lot of questions about Patrick Verona. Why does Patrick Verona say he can’t be seen at Club Skunk, but then when he goes there, the bartender knows him? How was he able to “call in a favour” to get the band to play at Prom? Did he used to work at Club Skunk? Does his mom work at Club Skunk? Does his ex work there? Is his ex in one of the bands that play there frequently? Did he used to be a super fan, borderline groupie of one of the bands? Is his mom in one of the bands? Is his mom a lesbian and often there? What's the connection?? How did Patrick get his bad-boy persona? Why does he maintain it? Also, why is it that sometimes Patrick seems completely unflappable and totally above caring about what other kids at school think, but other times he's easily embarrassed??
As someone who grew up in the 90s and early 00s, I imagine a number of my questions could be answered with "Patrick is bi". A little story or character study that answers some of the questions above would be really cool!!

Recovering from an injury is okay.
Also please no sexual or physical abuse, no infidelity/cheating outside of canon, and absolutely no rape, incest, or underage anything. I'm also not overly interested in anything featuring PWP, BDSM, orgies, sex toys, hard kinks, or mpreg. I'm not into the alpha/omega verse trope.
I do like a little smut, but I'm not actually into reading a lot of explicit sexual scenes. I prefer soft intimacy or flirty sexual tension over porny sex scenes.
And I prefer silly stuff and ridiculous shenanigans over a lot of angst.
