Thanks. I saw the Pieta at St. Peter's when I was in Rome. I knew that my mother was deeply impressed when she saw it at the World's Fair as a child. They had some kind of moving sidewalk that went around it, or she said she would have wanted to stay and look at it forever. I tried to sketch it a couple times while I was there, just because I wanted to see it in a more than ordinary way.
To me, it's the image of Paradise regained, in the new Adam and the new Eve. And if Paradise was restored in such a moment, who can keep it from being found everywhere again?
