I loved the explanations of the paintings and Brian's internal struggle to figure them out.

We never see Brian struggle when Justin's work is representational; he doesn't have to. I wondered what would happen when he first saw Justin's abstracts, and the rest, as they say, is history.

I thought about having one of the paintings actually be all murky green, but it seemed too easy. And too close to representational to make picky!Justin happy. But yeah. Murky green.

This fic is nicely crafted together bringing together several factors that make up Brian and Justin. Brian's need to give Justin what he needs. Justin pushing himself and Brian providing insight and support. This fic was clever and tender.
