Negotiations: locked to killer_saver

There were days when no matter what she did, she couldn't keep it together. This time, it spanned a couple days. Darcy had brought up her sister again. They hadn't been talking much about what their plan was and so she wanted to get an idea for what he had in mind. When Ford's answer seemed to be both vague and yield information she didn't know, ( Read more... )

Anger came in many forms. There was the frustrated kind, the one that could make just grit your teeth and tremble, and even cry. There was the red-hot surge of rage where things got broken, maybe even human lives. And, there were the cold kind. The icy silent calm, that said that there were far worse things than death.

That last kind was the kind that seeped out from Ford as he looked on the three men standing outside his house, rolling off him in waves. A smile, devoid of anything even remotely resembling warmth stretched his lips as he caught Rizzo's eyes. "Rizzo, dear friend. Here I thought you and I had a deal." Unsaid but so terribly clear in his tone, was the statement that he'd better hope that these mobsters would kill him, because no matter how torturous they could make his demise, Ford would make it so much worse ( ... )

Two men arrived instead of one and there was a quick pat down of them both. They didn't ask about the extra, because no matter what, they were both going to be outnumbered. No amount of rage could take down four lackeys, two armed guards and the big man himself. Jack was standing beside a chair where Darcy sat, hands tied behind her back, legs tied to the chair. She wasn't crying. She wasn't doing anything even. She was just there, patient.

"Ah, the cavalry has arrived!" Jack opened his arms in a welcoming gesture, "I thought I'd meet you before this moment Mr. Ford," he smiled.

Darcy had her eyes on Ford, trying to get his eyes to meet hers. They still think you're active. Keep them thinking that. Please please please... because if they thought his going missing would immediately bring the attention of the Organization then they were somewhat safe.

"Shall we get started?" he asked, smug smile planted on his lips.

"I don't get sent after small-fry," Ford said blankly. Deadly calm.

But, here it was that -. maybe to Darcy's surprise - that Casper stepped up. He usually did have a calmness about him, but now he also looked completely sure of himself. Calm and sure and steady. Safe, somehow, as if he knew that they would all be walking out of there without any trouble what so ever. "How wise would you say this was, kidnapping this woman?" he asked Jack. "Or how unwise?"

Jack looked not surprised, but amused. Someone else to do the talking for Ford? Hm. They must not trust him. He didn't give an answer. No he had other things he could be doing instead of worrying about all of this. Unfortunately there were secrets that had to be kept and of silencing that rat of a girl years ago was it, fine.

"I want to know what you wanted with Rizzo and why you were asking about Quinn," he said but help up a hand before they could answer. "Otherwise I'll fill the body bags with you both to keep my cousin company." he glanced over his shoulder. There was body bags laid out, one already stuffed.

"Oh, you saved me the trouble? Pity..."

"Shut up, Ford." Just a slight disapproval, but other than than Casper's steadiness didn't change. "I'm sure you're not that stupid. I'm sure you can figure out what would happen if not only one but three people connected to the Organization - some of us high up the food-chain I might add - were to go missing? I doubt you'd want that kind of trouble raining down on you."

Casper looked at Darcy, got the approval he needed there, and continued. "As for why we are asking about Quinn, it's as simple as wanting to help a loved one. I assume that you have noted that the last name of the lovely Darcy over there is the same as Quinn's? So in other words, this isn't an official Organization matter. Not yet, and not unless you make it one."

"She did mention that," he said softly as Jack brushed the backs of his fingers across Darcy's neck. She flinched a little, turning her head so that the subtle bruise accompanied with a minor cut to her cheek bone was visible. She had been hit.

"But going by the record here, even if I were to make it organization's business, you wouldn't be able to see the result and that would be satisfying in and of itself," he smiled, pulling his hand away.

Just then, Darcy looked up, took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. There was an immense amount of focus going into this moment, trying desperately to alter the mood and the more she focused, the more the tension lifted. She couldn't alter much, but she could at least bring down the heat.

Calmly, Jack Luca continued, "However, I'm not looking for that. In exchange for this lovely girl, what are you wiling to offer?"

Ford was almost about to leap into action regardless of the consequences when he saw the marks on Darcy, and it was only the combined soothing wave from Darcy and Casper's mental order to remain still that made him stand down.

"True. You could kill us all. And you could... Enjoy that for maybe a day - if that - before you'd be dead too. If we don't make it back by a certain time, messages will go about about where we've gone, who we've gone to see, and every single piece of information we've managed to gather. So yes, let us negotiate. It'll be much better for everyone involved, yes? I suggest we all simply go our separate ways here. Give us back Darcy, and we will not seek any revenge for what's been done to Quinn. In addition, if you were to tell us just what you did to her and how we might reverse it, that would put you on our friends-list, so to speak, and we'll do what we can to keep the Organization off your back, and keep Quinn from revealing what you silenced her for."

A slow smile spread across Jack's face. He leaned against the backrest of the wooden chair, glancing down at Darcy and then back to their negotiator. He liked these odds. Oh, yes he did. Besides, Quinn wasn't much use anymore. She had no reason to come after them other than vengeance and... well.

"I will allow that, assuming you keep them off my back and I'll keep my boys off yours," he nodded. Something of a mutual agreement was nice. He then nodded, only looking at the dark haired man ahead of him, "And if I give you the key to little Quinn's mind, I want you to keep her away from us. It's best if we don't all have to start this up again when she gets wild and tries to come after me."

"You have my word on that." It wasn't lost on Casper that he was making promises for another person one he didn't actually know. He just hoped he'd be able to make good on that promise.

He was also acutely aware that Ford was like a ticking timebomb where he stood slightly behind him to the side. Oh, Ford was as tightly shielded as he could ever be, but Casper still knew the rage that was boiling inside his friend. He knew him. They needed to get out of there, and soon.

Jack took a moment and gestured to a couple of his men, they immediately went to go and grab the body bags and leave out the back. A couple armed men remained beside Luca and then he smiled, almost too friendly given the situation. He crouched down next to Darcy, smiling up at her now. She glances to him, keeping herself bottled up completely, an eerie calm over her ( ... )

Both men moved at the same time when Darcy cringed; Ford forward to tear Jack's head off, and Casper to intercept, slapping a hand on Ford' chest to hold him back. They stayed there, frozen in place until the mobster had disappeared. Then they both sprinted forward, and as Casper bent down to untie her, Ford placed his hands on either side of Darcy's head and dived in without questioning to see if she had been hurt. Had he stopped to think about it he'd have known it was wrong of him and a bad idea, but he wasn't thinking. he just wanted to know that she was safe, or if he should go after Luca then and there and make the rest of his life into a living nightmare.

Darcy hadn't expected to have Ford suddenly in her head and it jarred her. Nothing had happened to her. She was fine. The man who hit her wasn't even Luca. It had been one of the idiots at his command while the don wasn't there. In fact, the man who had hit her had been hit as well by one of the others knowing how stupid it was to threaten the girl.

With her feet free at least she didn't feel quite as bad, though her hand were next. She'd been clenching her fists, shoulders sore from being tugged back at an unnatural angle all the while. "I'm f-fine..." she managed to whisper.

She was fine, Ford discovered to his great relief, and he seemed to sag down and almost deflate as that worry left him and he withdrew from Darcy's mind. But that cold rage was still there, and he looked up in the direction Luca and his men had left.

"No, Ford," Casper said calmly from where he just untied the last knot. "As agreed, you will not be going after them."

Ford clenched his jaw and gritted his teeth, though he didn't argue. Though all of this, he'd been completely useless, a feeling he wasn't used to and that he truly hated.

She exhaled a sigh, relieved to have her hands free though her shoulders didn't agree with her at the moment. She leaned forward a little, feeling slightly nauseous at the insanity that had gone on this morning. She hadn't eaten anything all day, she felt dehydrated, she was tired and weak, but she wasn't hurt.

Darcy rubbed her face, still leaned forward, feeling kind of sick to her stomach but she knew there was nothing in there to throw up, otherwise she would have. "They were hoping you'd be mad enough he could kill you and be done with it," she explained. "You have to let them go. There is no way you can win that fight. Besides, I'm fine and we got what we wanted."

He could. It it had been just him, he could have. But hot, he realized, when he had people he cared about. Now he had to swallow his rage, and he truly didn't know what to do with it.

"Then let's go home and recuperate?" Casper said, standing up behind Darcy. He looked at Ford, and teh understanding in the younger man's eyes was a small comfort, but still a comfort.

Darcy started to stand from the chair, feeling a little weak, but mostly because her blood sugar was low. She had to catch her balance a moment, but then was fine otherwise. They hadn't hurt her, she hadn't been threatened much. In fact, of all things to happen to her, that wasn't that bad of a thing. No, it wasn't pleasant or like sitting around and chatting with friends. She'd still be tied up, but she wasn't scared anymore. Maybe she really believed they'd leave her alone.

Her head was aching though and she really wanted to get out of this warehouse at the moment.
