another year...

...another silent fourth of July. I'm the only one to think it's special at school. I'm not that patriotic, but
I soooo miss bar-b q and fireworks. This will also be the first weekend since March/Feb that I've
had two days off. I was actually trying to think of a way to find work on Sunday. I'm sick in the head.....
speaking of which- last weekend I went to the emergency room to see a doctor for my non-improving symptoms.
I thought it was a sinus infection. According to the doctor, bronchitis. He gave me a 3 day course of antibiotics, since
I'm a foreigner, it's illegal to prescribe 7days at once. So I had to go back on Wednesday to see the doctor again,
he didn't see any signs of infected mucus and sent me home with some allegra and super aspirin for my headaches.
I felt cheated, since I was still on and off losing my voice through the week. But a coworker googled bronchitis, and according
to a study a couple years ago, they may or may not be completely useless. I feel better now, but I'm always out of energy. I suspect anemia
to be the culprit.

What else? I haven't booked my tickets yet, because I'm still bargaining/hunting with different travel agents. Frustrating
doesn't even begin to describe how angry I am with the prices. If I go to any U.S.
based website, like expedia- just to get a clue- roundtrip from Taipei to Seattle is inflated by at
least $500US. Needless to say I'll update everyone when I have my specific dates.

What else? Took my cat in to get shots, registration, papers, and microchip'd for the U.S. I thought I was done, but I have to take my cat, passport, and papers to a govt. office in Hsinchu one week before I leave so they can give me another piece of paper saying my cat is ok to enter the U.S. I don't know who has a harder getting into the U.S. terrorists or pets?
AND WTF? NO MORE SUPER SONICS???? AGHHH!

And good news! I got into the Mandarin Program at my top choice in Taipei. yay! I will finish moving there after my U.S. visit.
