To the person calling from a silent number who likes to hang up as soon as I answer my phone,

Optus have now been informed of the nuisance calls, and I personally will urge them to take the most severe action available, as will I

now back to your normally scheduled drivel... er, informative and witty repartee

Nice to see that normal service has been resumed then ... :)

Wasn't me, but I did try SMS'ing you a while back to little response -- mainly to enquire if you and the lady up for, I don't know ... happy wanderings at some point?

Not you too! Have these got /profanity deleted/ nothing better to do? My condolences. I shall send you a rocket launcher for use when you find the offender!

hmmm, if I called a mobile from the home phone, I ALWAYS leave a message (hate wasting my money). How odd...

Hopefully they will get the message now. I wonder if they know that a telecommunications company only needs three notified 'nuisense calls' to your phone number for them to prosecute?

I think, if I remember correctly, the procedure involves Optus/telstra etc to contact the caller and give them a verbal and written warning initially, and if it continues, to prosecute them. They can get some severe penalites.

The hardest thing is that because of the privacy act, the person being harrassed is never told WHO it was who was making the calls (unless something has changed since I last experienced all this rubbish).

Good luck.

I had some stupid call centre ringing me on mine - but leaving a number that was "not connected" if I tried to ring it back. I'd answer, there's be silence and they'd hang up. Eventually I got someone to respond by yelling long and hard enough...and told them to take me off their !! list. It seemed they couldn't hear me respond - headset issues? Who TF cares.

Hope Optus takes your complaint seriously. Most phone companies seem to suffer from an extraordinary degree of arrogance in my experience.
