a few short items
1) did i mention that my start date is sept. 4? so...soon. i'm a little nervous. mostly about what to wear.
2) nobody that my family has talked to has been able to figure out what the acronym of the office i'll be working for stands for. that is, i will apparently be working in the office of mystery that exists in a black hole, so if you don't hear from me after sept. 4, you know why.
3) i've been painting at my cousin kate's house for the past 3 days, and it's really a good thing for me. partly because she is going to pay me (whoot for some kind of income), but also because painting is very relaxing for me, and gives me a good sense of accomplishment. for example: the first day of painting with the first coat yielded a room that was very uneven - you could definitely tell when i got into the stride of making regular coats as opposed to the extremely crappy job done on the first wall. but the second day - well, everything looked lovely and even and i'm quite pleased with myself. i'm going over this morning to start prepping for painting the trim, and that's exciting because then everything will just look crisp and perfect.
