I did it! Twice! Within days! Not years! Exclamation points!
I'm sitting in KC's apartment now. Evan has two friends here, ladies. D Fox and "Ducey" are here as well. I spent over an hour in the car driving here this evening because I needed the opportunity to test. I hate that I feel this way, that it's necessary to do these things.
Over an hour and a half passed. "This business," Ducey said, after I finally opened the door since she called me. "After this business."
Next time, something else. Something real. Something prosaic and poetical, despite the strong, undeniable urge to do otherwise.
