☆ Character: Lyle Dylandy aka: Lockon Stratos (2.0)
☆ Series: Mobile Suit Gundam 00
☆ Character Age: 29
☆ Special Abilities/Powers: He is about as baseline human as it gets (to my knowledge; with a codename like Gene-1, just watch him be Jossed into being a clone or something). As far as skills are concerned, he can fly a mobile suit (don't let the dumb act fool you, folks, he's done this before). He is also a fairly good shot. Not quite as good as his brother, but he's working his way up.

☆Timeline: Season 2 Episode 4
☆ Character's Personality: While apparently being easygoing like his brother, Lyle has an undeniable sarcastic edge. He won't hesitate to make a pithy or wry quip about a situation if it puts him more at ease. He also has this bad habit of intentionally alienating people if he feels that it would be easier or more efficient than getting to the heart of an issue that bugs him personally. If he perceives that the new crew mates look at him and see only his dead brother? Clearly the solution is to push them away by coming off as a dick. Clearly.

In a way, it does work. Once he is positive that the differences between himself and his brother are made plain, exaggerated though they may be, Lyle is more likely to relax into a friendlier pattern.

Despite the fact that he can come off as abrasive when annoyed Lyle, at heart, really does want to change the world for the better. He was not affected by his family's death in the same way as Neil, who sought revenge. Rather, he felt the best thing to do was to change what things he could have control over rather than dwell on the past. It was for this reason that he joined the anti-Federation group Kataron and, likely, was one of the deciding factors of why Lyle took Setsuna's offer to join Celestial Being.

One last note: Lyle can be quite the flirt. Is it natural? Is it an act? It's a bit of both column a and b, really.

☆ Character's Background: Lyle's childhood was, for the most part, a happy one. He was born March 3, 2283 in Belfast, Ireland with his mother, his father, his sister Amy and, of course, his older (by ten minutes) twin brother Neil, with whom he always had a bit of friendly competition. All that changed when he was 13. While Lyle and Neil were standing outside of a shopping center, about to join the rest of their family, a bomb was set off by the terrorist group KSPA inside of the facility, effectively killing everyone inside. Both of the twins were deeply effected by the death of their family, though in very different ways.

Over the course of the next ten years, the two grew distant. Neil disappeared, presumably to join the paramilitary group that would change the world for better or worse, Celestial Being. Still, the older twin would send small updates and benefactorial gestures: a letter, a birthday card, an e-mail... Lyle's college tuition. It left Lyle with the impression of his brother as a 'grandaddy long-legs' type--a distant benefactor that he never saw, never heard. If not for the fact that he was his brother's mirror image, he would probably not even have known what Neil looked like as an adult.

Lyle would later graduate college and become a salary man. It wasn't the most exciting of lifestyles, sure, but it was secure enough. Lyle figured it was probably the kind of life that his family would want for him. Probably the sort of thing that Neil would expect.

Eventually, the steady trickle of contact Lyle had received from Neil stopped. Lyle didn't know whether Neil had hit an odd patch in his life or whether he should presume (rightly) that his brother was dead. His suspicions on the latter point were heightened when he caught sight of a strange purple-haired man that he had never seen before mourning at his family's grave.

When the new worldwide government, the Earth Sphere Federation, formed right after the defeat and disappearance of Celestial Being, it seemed like peace had come to the world as a whole. However, many, including Lyle, came to see it as a false peace and a breeding ground for despotism. Fed up with the mediocre life and wanting to make an actual difference, Lyle joined the anti-Federation group Kataron. There was really only so much that Kataron could do, being a rag tag assembly of rebels and scavenged mobile suits. Then Lyle received an offer.

Four years after the contact with Neil stopped, Lyle was approached by Setsuna F. Seiei who told him that Neil Dylandy had been a part of Celestial Being and confirmed that, yes, he had died in battle. He charged Lyle with the challenge of picking up his brother's codename, Lockon Stratos, and joining Celestial Being as one of their Gundam Meisters. He asked Setsuna if this was meant to carry out his brother's dying wishes. Setsuna said it was not, but it was a chance to change the world. During a short period of deliberation Lyle contacted his commander at Kataron, Klaus, about the situation. It was decided that Lyle would join Celestial Being but act as a spy for Kataron, passing on useful information about paramilitary super group's movements and actions against the Federation's secret military force, A-LAWS.

Lyle's first mission was the attempt to rescue Allelujah Haptism from his four year detention in a federal prison and, for someone who was 'supposedly new' to operating a mobile suit, he handled himself surprisingly well (despite not quite living up to his brother's shooting records). One of Lyle's first acts as a spy was to pass on this particular tidbit and, as a result, Kataron was able to save many of their own imprisoned comrades in the resulting confusion.

Like most twins, Lyle never really cared for being compared to his brother. However, when he came on board with Celestial Being, he found the comparisons all around him. Part of that was largely due to the fact that he was very seldom introduced properly and his new teammates often stared at him like the walking dead before being informed that, no, this is not Neil's zombie resurrection but it is, in fact, his twin brother. He quickly zeroed in on two people in particular that he was getting Looks from and determined to quickly distance them. Tieria was easy enough. Simply annoying the man through teasing seemed to be enough to get Tieria to ignore him when contact was not necessary. Feldt, who had carried a torch for the first Lockon for years, would take a bit more effort. She was clearly a nice girl, might be understanding of a few flaws... so, the plan there would be to give her 'what she wants' and make it seem utterly unappealing. Lyle kissed Feldt, 'propositioned' her and promptly got a slap in the face for it. Drastic measures, sure, but Lyle figured that it saved them all from a bigger let down in the future if everybody's expectations of him were lowered.

...Granted, his tactics don't exactly make Lyle Dylandy the most popular person on the Ptolemaios, but he can live with that.

☆ Third Person Sample: Lyle scowled at his surroundings while trying to rub the kinks out of his neck. The room that he had woken up in seemed to resemble something like a hospital room. A bit more accommodating than anything he expected any captors to provide, especially after seeing the conditions that Allelujah had been held in. Maybe they were softening him up...

What bugged him the most about his situation (well, aside from obviously being held captive) was the fact that he could not remember how he got here. No memories of a struggle or an enemy approach. The last thing he remembered was retiring to his bunk for the night. ...Maybe someone made sure he would stay unconscious while he was still asleep? He would have thought someone would have caused a commotion, at least. That is, unless Celestial Being had discovered his spying activities and decided he needed to be punished accordingly. Lyle cringed at the thought of Tieria Erde being in charge of his punishment. No, if it was Celestial Being behind this then the purple-haired terror would have made sure he was hurting for it.

He glanced at the doorknob. Surely it was locked, but compulsion dictated that he try it anyway. ...Lo and behold, it actually opened.

"Heh, open sesame," Lyle muttered to himself as he walked into the hall.

It was only a split second later that he was darting back through the doorway after catching sight of a shambling, decaying hulk with its mouth sewn shut.

"Jesus, Mary and Joseph, what the hell was that?!"

Lyle decided he was much better off not finding out first hand. So. Here he was at square one. Sadly, and predictably, there were no windows to abuse. Still, Lyle would much rather find an alternative in here than brave the, back thing outside. He looked around for a bit before finding something that could be useful. Above his bed was a vent. A vent that no doubt led to an air duct.

Lyle clambered onto his bed and worked on prying the cover of the air vent off. It took an hour of stubborn attempts before he finally collapsed on the bed in exasperation.

"...Maybe I can sneak past that thing after all..." The idea still did not sound appealing. His head lolled and Lyle caught sight of the computer. He had not thought anything useful could come of it and, in all likelihood, it was probably just a place to keep a camera to monitor him. ...But, hell, what harm could looking around on it do?

Lyle hauled himself to his feet and plopped himself into his incredibly uncomfortable computer chair, soon to be introduced to the wild and wacky world of the Tredecim patient network.

☆ First Person Sample: ...So, I've been wandering about for a day or so to see if I can get my bearings. Let me see if I have this straight:

The food is shite, the nursing staff is undead (woulda thought you lot were pulling my leg if I hadn't seen it myself), the plant in the garden is likely to eat you, some ginger bastard is keeping all the cigarettes to himself, and we're all stuck here indefinitely, unless we mysteriously disappear.

Beautiful.

Does anyone know if this place is affiliated with... anything? Is the Federation coming up with new and creative ways of jerking people around? It wouldn't surprise me.

Any information that you lovely crazies people would care to add to that would be appreciated.

Also, Mr. Cute Instructor? My ears are burning over here due to the lovely, glowing reviews you've given me. Truly, I am touched.

☆ Questions/Comments: How do I shot web? :D?

But, more seriously, is it okay if the first entry used in the comm isn't identical to the first person entry in the app? I plan to IC lurk a bit and he may not have picked up all the tidbits shown here. :D;;;
