Yup, your reasoning makes total sense, and is exactly how it works for me. I want to try and see everything, but I keep not seeing things and they're gone before I can see them, or they only show late, and I don't like being in town late on my own. :) That's the good thing about me having all my movie-watching formats paid for on a subscription basis... it motivates me to see as many movies as I can. Considering that none of my friends that live locally love the cinema *boggle*, the fact that the more movies I see=better value for money is pretty much what makes seeing so many films alone tolerable.
