Movies movies movies.

I have loads of entries and replies to reply to, I know. (And thanks for all the movie recommendations everyone! They'll definitely keep me occupied for a good long while!) Will do soon. I'm having an early night tonight though. Another.

Had a day off today, which was spent watching movies. I broke my record again. I saw five movies today. One on DVD after I woke up, and then four at the cinema. I love just spending the entire day at the cinema watching movies, and will probably do the same thing on Thursday. The movie I watched on DVD was the best though.

Casablanca. What an outstanding movie that was! Perfect in every way. Definitely one of the best movies I've ever seen. I could go on and on, but won't. Just, it rocked, and I'm so glad I've finally seen it!

Then at the cinema...

Confidence - Pretty good, but could have been a lot better. The performances were all decent, and the story was good if unoriginal, but the narrative was really awkward at times, and everything was just a tad too formulaic. I enjoyed it, and it was a good movie, just not one that did anything different enough to distinguish itself.

The Man Who Sued God - The premise of the movie, which has a guy suing God (via the Churches) for destroying his boat with a storm after insurance companies refused to pay for the boat due to a loophole which says they don't have to pay out after 'acts of God', is a really fantastic one, and had tonnes of potential for humour. It was partly lived up to, but not fully. It wasn't side-splittingly funny, and Billy Connolly's love interest in the movie annoyed the heck out of me, and the actress playing her didn't impress me at all - and just that one character was enough to stop me from enjoying the movie as much as I could have done. Good: definitely worth watching, but could have been better.

Cypher - A really good brain-frying movie. Lots of flashing images, and an unbelievably confusing story (I got lost, as I always do with even slightly confusing movies!) - but still excellent. Loads of tension, and an all round great movie - if overly tiring for my poor mind. :)

Hollywood Homicide - Although it was good, it came across as a movie that didn't know what it was trying to be. Some of the scenes could have fit into a thriller along the lines of Training Day, and others were fit for a comedy, but it wasn't a thriller that was funny, nor a comedy with a serious side (if any of that makes sense). It was a decent thriller in some scenes, and a pretty funny comedy in others, which made the movie as a whole enjoyable, but slightly jarring. Not going to make many Top 10 lists, but still good.

I enjoyed all the movies I saw, which is always good. So I guess I've had a pretty good day!

Oh, and I also bought the Narnia Chronicles for £7. At £1 a book I could hardly go past without buying them! This buying books thing could turn scarily expensive if I don't stop before it becomes addictive!

Work tomorrow. 4.30 wake-up. *whine whine whine*
