blogger vs. wordpress?

I am looking for advice. I am thinking of starting a blog about my fermentation experiments. In particular, I am dreadfully proud of dill pickles that are finally ready. So, the question is : do I use blogger or wordpress? Any thoughts?

Also, do either of those allow you to "friends-lock" a post (or do something equivalent)? (as those of you on my friend's list may have noticed, I tend to lock things by default)
