Curiosity killed the DICKS

Tallulah, I'm considering writing a Doctor Who fanfic that involves Mickey Smith from near the end of Series 4 (disregarding the marriage to Martha) meets the Ninth Doctor before he'd first met Rose. I'm culling together some ideas, but I don't really want to dedicate until I've sorted out the opening line.

Does "Mickey Smith had always fancied ( Read more... )

It's not so much stereotypical as that "clever" doesn't mesh well with "bloke" - I don't think people would necessarily put the two together like that.

I think I'd put "smart bloke" or "smart lad"; to me, they sound more natural.

I plan on it! But a combination of where I want this story to go and what I personally want in the Whoniverse has given me a recurring dream where Mickey joins Torchwood Three, and now I can't get it out of my head. 45yjhigtpr. This may come into play in the story itself - lots of Jack and Gwen, though I'd have to catch up on Torchwood as well (still haven't watched past Series 1). There will also be much Martha, but again, I'm disregarding the marriage between her and Mickey, under the pretense that "it happens sometime in the nebulous future and besides time is in flux anyway" as a front to the fact that I disapprove of it. >_>

*laughs* Your recurring dream sounds a lot more fun than the one I keep having about how I've not been going to any maths classes all year XD

*totally supports this disregard of the marriage*

Yeah, where in Torchwood canon you're setting it would have quite an impact. Although there's always the excuse of the timey-wimey ball ^^

Yeah, I agree - my dreams sound a lot better :D

I do like to use the timey-wimey where I can, but only sparingly. As much as I would love to write Owen and Ianto, there just isn't a lot of room between Mickey coming back at the end of DW Series 4 and Children of Earth (so far as I can tell), and Owen was already dead by the end of DW Series 4 anyway. >_>

One thing I've noticed with the Doctor - the ones I've seen, at least - is that each regeneration reflects events that his previous form had gone through recently. Like, Ten was much more forgiving and less vindictive than Nine because Rose had been a positive effect on the latter, and Eleven is kinda like "silly humans, Trix are for Time Lords" (from what the DW Wiki has told me), which fits into the fact that Ten went through so many companions and all of them left for some tragic reason - so Eleven's attitude is possibly to compensate for that fact.

I am perhaps reading too much into this ^^

My knowledge of DW/TW canon is a bit shaky at the moment, but yes, I don't think there's much room for manoeuvre before CoE.

I like it as a theory! And I think it makes sense of terms of character continuity for the Doctor, as well.
