philosophy: activism

Oct 21, 2010 02:29

I remember being young, ignorant, and happy - so willing to get on my soapbox and play activist, because there wasn't a Number One to look out for (or I didn't know any better), and because things were bright and shiny and causes were worth working towards. The last time I was like that...prooooobably 2006. Now I'm older and full of hate, not to mention more learned. Not only had I discovered Number One and what entails in looking out for him, but I'd realized that shit is going to happen whether I take part or not, and it's just easier to go with the flow and grumble about everything. (I mean, I still do my American duty and vote, but the mentality is still the same.) I don't believe in the "single grain of rice" philosophy.

But enough about me and my unending loathing of everything that is, here's my latest philosophy:

Activism is a crock; self-righteous activism is ego-masturbation.

That is all.
