My sisters and brother have been able to get out to Colorado. Unfortunately it is only for the weekend, but they can spend time with Mother and give our aunt and cousin (and hopefully stepfather), who have been sharing her care, a bit of a break.
I am grateful that Mother is still with us, so that they can see her again. I wish (more than I can say) that I could be there.
This from R (eldest sister) [edited for LJ]:
Hello to all who are out there wondering about momzo...mamita... mom... our mother...
She is still in this world but fading quickly.
She is very small. Has grown very thin and much shorter!
Her poor body is still going, although in slow motion. And with many pauses to catch breath.
She really has no appetite and will drink a tiny bit, but doesn't do well swallowing.
Quite stubborn about what she wants, where she wants to be and how she wants things. Just like her usual self. There just isn't the strength behind it. Certainly understandable.
When she and KiwiMan talk to each other you can almost hear their horns slamming into each other... as they butt heads about everything.
KiwiMan is trying soooo hard to do everything he can for her. But he wants her to do what he says and when he says it, so she balks!!
She is on several meds that help with agitation, her breathing and pain level.
The doctor has lessened some of her meds to try to help with some paranoia she has been having.
J, MP and I are here through the weekend to do whatever we can to help. She has bills that need to be paid; we will attend to this.
I sure wish it could be longer; obviously she needs so much help!!!
Say prayers of whatever kind for her peace and confidence...
Love to all!!!! ♥♥♥ R
p.s. she was never admitted to the hospital yet... they didn't have a bed so her care has still been all at home...
