A bit of backstory--I heard my dog whining, so I went outside to investigate. There was a bird sitting in his water bowl; this isn't such an unusual occurrence, as it's really hot here and the birds like to cool themselves. The unusual thing was that the bird didn't move. Not when I clapped my hands. Not when I kicked the bowl. Nada.
And then, something awesome happened. My dog sort of made friends with it.

So. That's what I did with my evening. I also figured out that I'm a housewife without being married--all I do is cook and clean and garden and go to the gym. Hell, I'm a trophy wife. Too bad I'm only doing it for me.
