...but I'm not getting my hopes up. Went to see Liz today (poor broken ankle Liz!) and she and her husbiance (can't remember if they're married or just engaged) gave me some CDs that are supposed to make my computer all better, given a few hours.
I know not how this will work, but I figure I can't fuck it up any harder. It's basically a brick at this point (pause for emo sobs). Unless it turns to dust, I can't make it worse.
The good news is, if it works, I'll be $1699.00 less in-debt to the parents. Of course, that means I wouldn't be getting a shiny new Mac...and you DO know how I love shiny.
I was thinking that if it does work, I could put the money into a laptop...and then have a laptop and a desktop. I could take it to class and write Two/Jamie fic during my Lohn class...
I need to stop these crazy daydreams right now, before they get out of hand. I might still really, REALLY need the new desktop, since this CD thing might not work at all.
On the ridiculous side, I bought Outlander and Dragonfly in Amber at the local bookstore!! I know I already own both of them, but they're SO far away in California, and Outlander WAS 10% off....Besides, I don't actually own Outlander, I own Cross Stitch.
SO MANY TRIVIA POINTS if you can tell me what any of the differences are between Outlander and Cross Stitch!! (I know there's at least one person on my flist who's read them)
I had a "my fandom has" contest with Renee today. I did pretty well, since my fandom has smut and hers does not, but was eventually defeated--I put Master Raymond up against her weird mythological thing, and lost (BOO!). Well, I guess not even Master Raymond can defeat "My fandom has unicorns being born from trees!!" And really, what can? But hers doesn't have Jamie, and while I can't convince her of this, mentally, that means I win.
JAMES ALEXANDER MALCOLM MACKENZIE FRASER
OH GOD THAT FELT GOOD.
I haven't read them for around a year, and when I did, it was the copy of Cross Stitch that I bought at the Culloden Gift Store (which was just such a ridiculous thing...but apparently they also have Gettysburg gift stores, so who am I to judge?), and now I want to go back to Scotland. RIGHT NOW. Of course, as the woman behind the counter said when I asked for Outlander a few months ago, "Even if you go to Scotland...he's not there."
BOO. WANT JAMIE.
