.
I welcome all this rain. It is normal for this time of year. Not like in
April when I felt robbed of our summer. It rained and stormed practically the whole month. Now, it's normal and expected.
Except that... there was so much rain this morning, water seeped in to our downstairs. Remember that I live in a really old house. We never really had drainage problems before. But whoa! This caused a bit of a panic. I have three major Kenneth Cobonpue pieces there. And they're indoor furniture, not the all-weather kind. Yikes. Thank God for all the help I have at home. Now there's another reality I have to deal with. I swear, living in a house is a major responsibility. Sometimes I think... maybe we should just live in a condo.
Hopefully that is the extent of our rain drama this season. Now to go on with my regular day. I am technically ready to give birth next week. But I shouldn't yet. I still have 4 shoots with Urban Zone. And Lily is turning 3 next week. We have a little birthday party for her. So I'd like to do that in one piece. Baby should stay inside til after Ate Lily's birthday.
Rain Skimmers
Going back to my rainy day. I'm so glad I found these ballet flats called
Rain Skimmers . They are so comfortable and cute. From a far they look like regular ballet flats (can't get enough of them) but they're completely made of rubber. And inside they are lined with felt-like fabric, for extra comfort. I keep them in my car. So everytime I get caught in the rain I can just slip them on.... during that crucial period of (heaven-forbid) walking in a rainy/wet pavement while getting out of the car and getting in to my destination. That's Manila living for you.
Ready for Rain is the same company that brought in Plueys - those cute rubber boots also known as Wellies. I got one for my daughter. But I couldn't bring myself to put them on myself because a) they're too cute for me, b) its not like I pound the pavement when its raining and c) i have skinny chicken legs that never look good in boots. But the Rain Skimmers ballet flats are just perfect for me.
I always found it peculiar that for a tropical country that experiences rainy season during half the year, "rain fashion" isn't really heavy promoted here. There are the traditional umbrellas and raincoats. But that's about it. Now with www.readyforrain.com there are so many rainy day paraphernalia to choose from and have fun in.
Rain Skimmers are available online at P1450 each:
