Who wants a free Ricoh GX200? I'm a fan of compact cameras that can do manual shots. I know there are limitations. But I just don't think I'm the DSLR type. I could never handle those huge bodies and lenses. So I alternate between the Leica DLux3 and Ricoh GX200. I'm having fun with the Ricoh because all the extra attachments I ordred are coming in - like the electronic viewfinder and retracting lens cover. I also want to get lenses - wide angle etc... The new Leica DLux4 has all these additional attachments as well. But its not like I'm going to go out and buy another similar Leica. I'd rather save for an M series one day. Naks! Haha. But I digress...
Those of you who watch ABC5's evening news program T.E.N. The Evening News are probably aware of the contest they've got going. They're looking for a series of 5 photos with the theme social realism. Anything that has to do about our city, our community and our times. See poster for details.
The prize is a Ricoh GX200. The contest has been extended til July 7 2009.
He works at ABC5
A couple of days ago I found myself in the outskirts of Novaliches. After my shoot I called Patrick and told him "I think I'm near your office." I had never been to ABC5 despite his invitations to see his then-new work place. If you're a southerner, Novaliches is farther than Cebu. So that was my chance. I met his colleagues and saw the set. For more than a year he'd been working hard to set up and create the most unconventional evening newscast in the Philippines. Like I've said many times before, I am his biggest fan.
And like a true fan, I posed for pictures in their set. Haha.
Okay never mind that I look like I'm sitting in a potty. This is where Martin Andanar, Jove Francisco and Cheri Mercado sit every night. Patrick got those chairs from Vitra. If you win the photo contest, your 5 photos will be blown up to the size of those giant back drops.
Here are a few samples of what you can expect from T.E.N. Patrick had this wild idea of putting writer/singer/performer/poet Lourd de Veyra on TV with a social commentary segment:
